What's his deal so far? How's he looked in camp, and all that jazz.

Is he projected to start out the season in the AHL?

I dunno what's happening to him.

All I know is that I can remember a time when there were rumors he'd go 2nd overall after Kovalchuk... and so far it doesn't seem like it would have been a good idea to me.

Weiss is one of those players who has something to gain by playing in the AHL. He'll log 1rst line minutes this year and can work on his overall game, mostly his scoring touch. Keep in mind that he is a much more complete player than Kovo or Spezza and Will likely be a top player for the panthers in a year or two. He has bulked up and is stronger now, and shut down Sergei Federov against ANA. Most likely he'll start the year in SA but it may be that he stays and centers the 3rd line untill Nedorost is ready for game action.
