The ranking isn't a Big-10 thing. It's a Penn St thing. Penn St, just like a lot of other teams in the whole country, gets positive bias rankingwise because of their name.
nonsense. since 2000...

2017, 2016, 2008, 2005, 2002 the team finished higher than they were ranked in the preseason

2010, 2009 (1 spot diff), 2007, 2006, 2000 the team finished lower than they were ranked in the preseason.

ur statement might have been true in the 90s under paterno after 94, but thats 20 plus years ago now...

This game is a perfect example. Two teams ranked in the teens that are mediocre at best. Neither one has 100 yards of offense and there's five minutes left in the half lol.

And if this had been two mediocre SEC-teams ranked in the teens with the same stats everybody and their dead grandma would have praised the D's from here to the moon and not focused on the shit QB, special teams etc.

And how many times the last 5-10 years have teams like Texas, Notre Dame, USC been ranked early before all their losses have forced them out of the rankings?

Nonsense, because more often than not those SEC games really are good defense. Are you saying that's what this mess is? Sloppy plays, penalties, unforced safeties, etc. Big-10 football, with very few exceptions, has been regressing for years and this year is becoming downright horrible. Who is really any good? OSU beat who, a 3-4 TCU team? Wisconsin lost to BYU. Michigan lost to Notre Dame.

The differences with those other teams is occasionally they do have very good seasons, and for the most part like I've said many times, they play schedules a LOT tougher than what your average Big-10 team plays. Michigan/OSU and maybe Wisconsin excepted some years. Of course those teams are going to lose some here or there like an SEC team. Most Big-10 teams have one or two "tough" conference games a year and then play a bunch of cupcakes outside the conference. That's why some of this slop ends up ranked or in title discussion deep into the year.

And then Iowa fails on 4th and 10 from the Penn St 40 with 40 seconds left in the half.

It's like each coach is trying to out-stupid each other.

Dude SEC QB play is garbage outside of Alabama and at times Texas A&M. The last time the league had good QB play, it was amazing.

Most SEC offenses are crap. But since so many people are SEC biased, all they talk about is the great defense and not the bad offense.

He just ran on the field to try to call a time out after a change of possession to "stop the clock". His coaches had to pull him back.

Ah, I remember that rule. It only lasted one year.

idk how penn state is tied. theyve done pretty much everything they can to give it away and mcsorley is injured. good thing stevens is at the very least a huge athletic dude who can run a read option. the passing on that final drive was good as well.
