He's not an accurate passer.
He's not great. He won't make the NFL.

But he's good, and he's better than Jalen Hurts, Kelly Bryant, and just about every other QB in the Big Ten. Fact.

I'm telling you all, almost gave me a heart attack, but it's better for this PSU team to win that game the way they did than to win by 14-21 pts.

Was out all night last night so woke up to see Penn State won good for them

Also regarding the "Everyone in Penn State is bad" mindset, I used to think that because of their cult worship of Joe Paterno but in the end from somebody who knows Penn State graduates it's not really as bad as everyone puts it. I think about 99% of them would not advocate what Sandusky did, although they may be more willing to excuse Paterno. And that was the main issue. Paterno was an icon of that town. But they tore the statue down (although when going around Bleacher Bums you still see signed memorabilia telling them to "put the statue back up" or something to that extent)

To be fair, I think the Paterno library got renamed, although I could be wrong on that. So they are starting to move on. I'm happy for Penn State. Too many people just associate bad things with that school man. It's time to turn a new chapter. What happened in the past has nothing to do with this new team. It's good to see State College rocking and enjoying football again. That isn't to say that we should bring back that mindset of "Football Uber Alles" (which was another point of criticism) but we should also recognize that Happy Valley indeed is a fantastic place to watch a game and Penn State deserves to enjoy football again.

A lot of people suggested PSU get the death penalty. It's not going to happen. I was in the casino the other day watching Pony Excess on mute at the bar. SMU basically had a football program removed. SMU football was pretty big. To see them just get crippled like that is just huge, there's too much money involved for that. Listen, we all agree bad things happened at PSU but the time really has come to move on and forge a new chapter. This is the Franklin era now.

The program shouldn't even exist anymore

Sickening to see Penn State win any games

The problem is again that killing off a program is just too much of an impact financially on the NCAA. The NCAA learned from what they did with SMU and again, watching that documentary, you had a football program that was blatantly skirting the rules and paying athletes. Then the NCAA drops the hammer on them and they lose football for a set period of time after which it returns but with strict penalties. After the season where SMU played zero football, the program struggled to gain relevance for many decades. The so called death penalty absolutely crippled them.

At first I was highly in favor of strict penalties. Penn State needed to be taught a lesson. What happened in the past was a blemish on the program we all thought was pristine. Joe Paterno, the hero, the beloved one, accused of covering up and "only reporting child rape to his superiors as required by law"? Why didn't he do more?

I agree that he should have done more. But I also don't think they should just scar Penn State for life because of this. This is not something that impacts the current generation of players. From interactions with many Penn State people, they are good people and they love sport. What Joe Paterno did was wrong to put football over human conscience and decency. I agree with that. But why should 2017 Penn State or Penn State after 2013 or whenever he passed away have to deal with the impact of what he did? Why should future generations be marred for life? Many of the people responsible for the cover up have been jailed or fired. Nobody from that era is there anymore. This is a whole new chapter in Penn State history.

And again I would leap on any chance to criticize Franklin (I didn't like his time at Vanderbilt and some also criticize him for his handling of the Vanderbilt rape case) but I am a tolerant person and it just goes to show you what he has done at Penn State to make them relevant again in a long time. I think we need programs like Penn State around to make football damn interesting. You people need to understand as someone who went to State College for a visit as well as other parts of Pennsylvania for travel, Penn State means a lot to these people. Do they take it so seriously that they idolize Paterno as an infallible deity who can do no wrong? Some do, but you will find those bad apples in any fanbase. Most of them realize what Paterno did and most of them are willing to move on. Do they, and the program, not deserve to move on? Must they always be mired in the past as if it were quicksand?

Is he? Saquon Barkley is clearly going to carry Penn State on offense. He's capable. That might be enough to win the B1G. McSorley needs to be much better if they want to challenge Clemson or Alabama.

No question we rely heavily on Barkley. Can't see McSorley nailing all those long bombs like he did last year. Losing Godwin hurts too, but still have some good receivers and Gesicki.

And yes, we're not all bad people. I'll admit, lots of us are cocky. And there's the nuts, but overall, a good mix of humble central PA PSU diehards, many young, successful and attractive alumni/current students, and really an overall alumni footprint that extends everywhere. We outnumbered USC fans in their area at the Rose Bowl.

There's still work to be done, but as a program, Franklin is positioning us to be right up there with Michigan/Ohio State in the B1G.

Barkley apparently leads the B1G players in receiving yards and catches and is 2 yards behind dobbins in rushing. Beast.

Gameday should be in Orlando, best matchup the AAC is going to have with UCF vs Memphis till UCF hosts USF on black Friday. Too bad ESPN doesn't care about the AAC.

They won't get the death penalty. They should have, but if it was going to happen it would have happened much earlier. The problem is the NCAA lifted what meager penalties that were there. And like I posted a week ago, the comment/excuse that current students, players, etc. aren't to blame is complete bogus, thanks to 100k fans standing and sickeningly cheering during Paterno's video salute last year vs. Temple.

Think about that, this was 2016. A hundred thousand fans, minus the Temple contingent who had banners supporting the victims, saluting the man who at best looked the other way while horrific child rape was occurring repeatedly for years, all to protect the precious PS football program.

And it's not just this. A pledge dies this year, the university tries to sweep it under the rug/play it off as an accident but thankfully students were charged with murder. Something is seriously wrong up there.

And oh yeah the football team, other than Barkley, extremely unimpressive, barely escaping an unranked team. Real contender there.

Now I don't think NC State is a top 25 team but I do think it's hilarious FSU is #25 in the USA Today poll after we just beat them

Who's your team, hoss? Not considering PSU a contender is sheer stupidity. These games happen to good teams. It's how you handle it and just getting the W. Also, not easy to win in Iowa at night. They'll win about 8 games this year.

Also Notre dame being ahead of them pretty easily. Nc state has the same record and beat a top 25 team (not anymore) while nd hasn't beaten anybody. Nc state has the same record and is on a 3 game winning streak

Idk how nc state didn't make the top 25 but teams like nd did. Take lsu out already as well. Why is Florida still in the high 20s?
