Hopefully Fourgiev plays the game of his life. He seems to play best with something to prove like against the Rangers.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result. Bednar is in fact insane. Georgiev didn't have it the month of March, the month of April and has been inconsistent all year. There's no miracle where hes all of sudden going to turn it over in one game. This team is going to fall because of the goalie. Saddest way to go out.

Wondering the same damn thing. I don't think I have ever seen this before. There's no cap and unlimited roster size.

Maybe they want to send him to the Eagles for their playoff run and he can't go down without clearing wavers?
Nailed it

Why the f*** wasn't Prosvetov up for the 1st game then. Because the f***ing eagles were trying to get home ice? Who gives a f***. The Avs are the parent club and needed a backup who's at least played games this year in the NHL in case George faltered (and he did).

If George gets pulled after 4 or 5 maybe we still win last game.

Can't believe the AHL team took precedence over the NHL team in terms of which goalie got called up.
He had also been sick and hadn't played in a game since the 13th. It wasn't like he would have been coming up game-ready. You also have to take into account that this time of year (well, almost all the time, but especially this time of year) Bednar isn't gonna give you anything that's remotely accurate info. 80-90% of what he says to the media is crap.

Justice was the only goalie that Bednar would pull George for in game 1 of a series.
Didn't matter who the backup was IMO after JA was ruled out

I really think it also also had something to do with it being Prosvetov's first game back from being ill/out as well. They probably weren't quite sure whether he was really back to form yet. One night earlier, the Eagles dressed Barczewski and Gianuuzzi, who now sport 6.94 and 7.68 GAA, and 1 GP.

Annunen is sick for so long that he's going to need time to physically recover from that

Not like you go straight from sick for several days to ready to start an NHL game
Bingo. If he has the flu, or COVID, or RSV, or whatever, that shit can take a good couple of weeks to get over, or longer given certain symptoms, especially the respiratory issues and fatigue. Remember how well Wood was playing earlier in the season, then he got sick, missed 3 games over a week's+ time, and he was never that good again the rest of the year.

Was the game 1 scenario not foreseeable? It seems like they should have had the right other backup at game 1.
