Last thread was over 1000. The posts from the last two pages.

Damn, he musta left cold as hell Canada eh?

Definitely not Canadian waters bro.

Jesus, 34-year old Ben Street with two goals in the first period against WBS. I remember thinking this dude might have a future in the NHL.

DOC scores his first goal.

That’s good. He needs to get some time in offensive situations with linemates that aren’t plugs.

I haven't paid much attention to the AHL or frankly the NHL outside of the Pens this year, but I noticed tonight that Byfield, the second overall pick last year, is 1/6/7 and -15 in 13 games with the Kings AHL franchise this year.

I think we have a couple pieces in WBS that could make this team a lot better if they get a chance here versus Janko and Lafferty.

I didn't get to watch last night. They won 6-3, though.

TheAHL.com | The American Hockey League

Nice to see Cam Lee get back on the score sheet (3 ass, all on the PP) as he was running dry.

Found the highlights, but they only show the WBS goals.

Lee’s skating is just on a different planet in a watered down AHL.

Also, look at Drozg. Just look at him!

My love for you is like a truck, Berserker!

Looks like the Baby Pens are also doing the thing the (Adult?) Pens do, which is give up a bunch of goals and then (attempt) to claw their way back in.

This has to be the first time in awhile the Baby Pens are being led by prospects right? Its great to see these guys get on the board.

Zohorna
Jordy
Lee
Lizotte

All seem to be playing well.

DOC & Gruden adding goals too.

Shoulda muted, holy fuk.

Can't believe no ones told him to shush down. Nice 'playmaker' for Lee.

Sweezy with the first fight of the season I believe

He looks like an imperial officer from star wars

Re-watching in a little.. Lizotte's goal shift was hilarious. Crushes a guy that challenges him one-on-one, breaks it out , follows up the play and buries it.

Sweezy had to have 4 big hits before his fight. Devils guy tried to take a run at Cam Lee and Sweezy stepped in..

Bellerive is so responsible on D and plays 200-ft game with speed to burn. ;)

How is Bellerive on faceoffs?

The WBS defense has been a pleasant surprise for me. Those not named Lee, Reilly, or Maniscalco have been way better than I expected. Except Czuczman.

Lizotte’s always looked good to me. Don’t think he’s a prospect based on his age but maybe he’s earned an NHL 2-way deal at least. Nice depth, plays both sides, does a little of everything, probably wouldn’t hurt you in an emergency call-up to the NHL in a pinch as long as it’s brief and his minutes are light.

In games last season he looked better than the “vets” like Czuczman & Trotman.

Not his forte or a specialist or anything. But competent I'd say

I don't think the 4th line listed above is correct -- Yeah, Olsen is in for Gruden. Wait, no Olsen is in for Robert who must've been a late scratch. Gruden on the second line. Joe Lizotte, Reilly Churchman, and Lee Sweezey sound like comic book character names.

Would like to see Maniscalco get back in.

DOC with a nice play behind the net to Schaller who almost scored.

Lee skating out of his mind in this game (4 minutes in). Created two chances already. One was with DOC who almost scored.

Terrible drop pass by Drozg at his own blueline to Zayde Wisdom. Luckily it didn't amount to anything.

Bad, bad decision/play by DOC and Reilly that gave the Phantoms a 3 on 1 the other way. They scored. 1-0 Lehigh Valley.

POJ lost his stick and a forward wouldn't give him a stick. I see this is an organizational thing.

Currie kneed someone. Phantoms dominating this period after the first commercial break.

DOC with a nice PK shift. Penalty killed. End of the 1st. Pens lucky it's only 1-0.

Start of the 2nd, but I missed the first two minutes. A minute later LHV scores. Garrett Wilson. The Pens were just overpowered on that. Annnnd a minute later the Pens top line just kept poking at it while it was in LHV's crease. Schaller or DOC get the goal.

Oh yeah, POJ was a bit physical in the first.

(my friend called and I wasn't paying attention for a good while)

DOC with a partial breakaway and was hooked. Drew a penalty, but he kept at it and set up Currie for a goal.

(still on the phone -- barely watched the 2nd)

Did not realize that Jordy is 5’2”

Didn't notice this:

Top line with a good shift -- almost scored a goal.

DOC with a shot on the PP that hits the crossbar. Drozg stickhandling too much at the blueline while bringing it in leads to an offside. He keeps doing stupid small things like that.

I don't think they keep faceoff stats in the AHL, but I think Zohorna has been winning quite a bit.

I think two thirds of that fourth line has been injured in this game.

Phantoms had a fast break the other way but the Pens backchecked real hard to deny them. But then this lead to a huge scramble in the front of the net and LHV finally scores. 3-2.

Derrick Pouliot, yes that player, roughs up or interfered with Bellerive behind the LHV net. Pens to a PP, but the Phantoms have a ridiculous PK.

Currie has a pretty dang good shot. Took a shot on the PP that caused a rebound and Schaller puts it home. 3-3.

Heading to OT.

Lee tried to do a bit too much in OT which lead to the LHV goal.

Happy International Women’s Day to that Bonner Chevrolet lady.

Wow Cam Lee certainly has a high opinion of himself, too bad can’t show it

Horrible OT turnover

I was about to ask about Maniscalco since he was on the taxi squad but just this morning there was a massive shifting of several players.

There's a bunch of these young kids I'd like to see in the NHL for a game or two but...man do we have a bunch of roster players at the moment.

I suspect Reilly will sit next game for someone. Hopefully Maniscalco.

Next game is this Saturday, the 13th, at 7PM EST.

Rest of the schedule: Schedule | Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins

Curious what current thoughts are on future call-ups. Joseph & Zohornay seem like potential long-term pieces, any thoughts on guys like Bellerive & Miletic?

I think a great outcome for Bellerive would be a Simon tier player. But with some prick in him.

Obviously they play different styles, but basically I’m saying a depth forward that has enough brain to play up the lineup when asked to.

I could hope for more, but realistically I’d be pretty happy with that.

I previously said: "Bellerive more in the mold of Archibald or Wilson as opposed to Rust. Or even as opposed to Kuhnhackl. Still, I'd like to see him on the 4th line this season."

Hope that helps?

He has more grit and better scoring hands....from what I’ve seen.

So a healthy scratch unless he plays under Mike Sullivan?

I assume Bjorkqvist will spend the rest of the year in Finland? He'll be 24 next year with 6 AHL games. Time to give up hope?

No to giving up hope. Last season was his first professional one which was cut short by injury. And then the Pens loaned him to Finland because of COVID. He started off pretty hot over there from what I'm remembering. He should be back in WBS next season.

Today's game is at the same time as the NHL Pens. If you get nifty with some streams and websites, you can watch the WBS game after the NHL game ends.

It feels so weird to look at the WBS lineup, year after year, and see a buncha names that inspire no reaction whatsoever.

My brain is still stuck in like 2004 when they had guys like Scuds, Orpik, Armstrong, etc. who ended up being long-time NHLers, and you knew they would be, if for no other reason than the team was f***-awful and they had to fill out the roster somehow.

Lee, POJ, O'Connor are all fun prospects. Zohorna could have a lot of potential. Giving Bellerive a shot would probably be advantageous over Jankowski.

POJ, sure. I haven't seen a thing from O'Connor that says to me he's anything worth holding on to, even from a "Not quite there, but with a bit more seasoning".

Don't know a thing about Lee, Zohorna, or Bellerive. Or wait, is Bellerive the dude who blew himself up by drunkenly putting a gas canister by a campfire a few years ago? Is that the same guy?

Robert had 92 points in 46 games last year. Poulin, on the same team, had 77 points in 46 gp.

Robert was 2 years older, I believe.

I wish they'd take Drozg off of the Zohorna-Robert line, though (and put Schilkey with them, again). Put Drozg with DOC-Currie/Gaudreau and put Schaller with Miletic-Bellerive.

DOC-Currie/Gaudreau-Drozg
Robert-Zohorna-Schilkey
Miletic-Bellerive-Schaller
whoever

I'm only a minute into the game. Nothing of note yet.

POJ with a nice setup to Drozg who had the goalie beat but it rolled off his stick.

Sweezey with a ridiculous stumble. And then later that same shift Lee gets a good chance in the o-zone.

POJ with another great setup, this time with DOC. DOC barely missed on the re-direct. And now Schaller throws a Crunch player into their goalie. SYR to the PP.

I don't know why cause I never watched him, but Nastasiuk makes me think of Riley Holzapfel?

Bellerive with a mean forecheck. I've not really been noticing him or Miletic in the games I've watched recently, though.

8 minutes left in the first. I'm switching back to the NHL Pens for their second period. Just decided I'm going to paint during the NHL Pens second intermission. I'll watch the remainder of the WBS game after I'm done painting.

Back to watching. Drozg leveled someone at 6:30 left in the first. I thought it was going to be interference, but I guess not?

Annnnnd my feed went away. That's all I got.
