Wayne Mattie

Sad to report that Wayne Mattie, SFX video guy, passed away this morning from a heart attack. Wayne was at the Nationals last year after being in hospital the previous week with heart issues and in Freddybeach this weekend. I spoke with him on Sunday. Wayne was a good hearted likable person who bled Blue and White.

He'll be missed in the press box.

Wayne was a character and he will be missed I'm sure in all AUS press boxes.

Always brought a chuckle out of me that while reviewing video from X games he had been on camera, you could quite clearly hear him in the background cheering on the X players and letting his feelings on the referee's known.

Just one of those larger than life characters that left a mark on everyone, and especially on the X players off all generations, judging by the X-Men Hockey twitter feed:
