Ditto.

I even went back and listened to the Weezer and Bad Brains albums Ocasek produced.

And I'm really embarrassed to admit that I'm only realizing now that Moving in Stereo is a cars song. Never realized it all these years and I must have seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High at least 50 times

Doesn't anybody f'ing knock anymore?

Ocasik had a really interesting producing career. Weezer, Bad Religion, No Doubt, Bad Brains, Guided by Voices, Black 47's first album.

I went through a kick with them about a month back.

Not going to lie, I might have been a little heavy on the gas and rolled the windows down while blasting Absolute Zero.

Hockey/driving music :yo:

Oh ya I’ve always liked Neu!’s debut. I’ve tried Can but they’re definitely out there
Faust is Krautrock that's even farther out there than Can; I do not get Faust. But Can is a band like the Velvet Underground in that they likely influenced a lot of music you already listen to. Can was throwing out hip-hop beats in the early 1970s. And you can thank those German bands for like 95% of post-punk. Like Spiderland, Ege Bamyasi or Tago Mago are albums that should be listened to in their entirety and not while you're doing a bunch of other stuff.

For what occasion is this music made for other than being wheeled off to a mental institution?

Edit: Post-war Germany.

My personal favorite song:

This one is my personal fave:

And since we’re talking about Krautrock, and that lately it feels like Werner Herzog is popping up every where in everything I’m interested in, I feel like I have at least mention Popol Vuh and more specifically the scores they’ve done for Herzog movies

Popol Vuh (Germany) "Nosferatu" - Full Album - YouTube
(They also did soundtracks for Heart of Glass, Fitzcarraldo, and Cobra Verde)

Hah, have you seen Aguirre, the Wrath of God or Fitzcarraldo? Crazy movies with even crazier production. Both films sounded like absolutely miserable experiences.

Before like 7 months ago, I think I had only seen the documentary about the making of Fitzcarraldo and just knew about Herzog as like, a cultural figure and I talked about him with a coworker who had seen pretty much the same stuff I did, but showed me a bunch of his absolutely insane interview clips on YouTube (the videos of him getting shot during a BBC interview and him realizing John Waters was gay are amazing if you haven’t seen them) and I decided I was going to give his movies a shot, Aguirre and Fitzcarraldo were the first two I watched and I’ve been almost non-stop binging everything I can get my hands on from him. Like, every movie and documentary I’ve seen from him have been fascinating in their own way, then every interview with him is amazing, two days ago I just finished a book of diary entries he wrote when he walked from Munich to Paris in the middle of winter and that was amazing too. He’s essentially the real life Dos Equis most interesting man in the world

The latest from the New Pornographers is right now in heavy rotation for me. I love Neko Case's voice and need to do some deep diving

Trying to catch up on Wilco and then digging into some Big Thief. Got a back-to-back of shows this weekend that should be cool.
