So Caps' press guy turns out to be a very lucky person. Washington Capitals executive Sergey Kocharov wins $1 million lottery prize
Shame he isn't in FL or Vegas, then he could keep all 1 millionHe'll get like 200k of it.
American taxes.

Not according to HFBoards. Pretty sure Salary in FL = take home in FLExcept for those pesky Federal taxes...
He'll get like 200k of it.
American taxes.
Better than Canadian taxes, where he'd end up having to pay 200k.
No taxes on lottery winnings in Canada.
not only that, but if you're a Canadian who wins the lottery in the states, the government will pay you the difference

That is so wholesome.not only that, but if you're a Canadian who wins the lottery in the states, the government will pay you the difference
Our taxes are pretty generous to rich people, we just treat lottery winnings as income. Big whoop. If you look at what our taxes actually are, he'll get around 600k if he takes it as a lump sum. If he takes it in smaller sums, he'll get more because he can come in under the top tax brackets for a lower rate. Hardly a hardship.
not only that, but if you're a Canadian who wins the lottery in the states, the government will pay you the difference
Canadians move to the US for employment reasons typically. Take that out of the equation and why on earth would they stay there???That's because Canada is afraid the winners will stay in the U.S.
Guessing you dont know what "snowbirds" meansCanadians move to the US for employment reasons typically. Take that out of the equation and why on earth would they stay there???
Yes it means older people who go to warm areas for the winter, but certainly do not make it their primary residence. They escape the cold a few moths of the year. Thats all. They certainly dont stay there. As i said.Guessing you dont know what "snowbirds" means
So you do know why they stay there...Yes it means older people who go to warm areas for the winter, but certainly do not make it their primary residence. They escape the cold a few moths of the year. Thats all. They certainly dont stay there. As i said.
They dont stay. Im sensing you dont know why they call them snowbirds. So you do know why they stay there...
We/them/us/Canadians do stay. Allowed a 6 month visit before permits/visas apply. They dont stay. Im sensing you dont know why they call them snowbirds.
Visit?We/them/us/Canadians do stay. Allowed a 6 month visit before permits/visas apply.
Probably less than that, the 1 million is usually the total amount paid over x years if he didn't select the lump sum. If he elects the lump sum its going to be considerably less before tax even enters the equation.

Your inferiority complex is showing.
Says the sens fan.
No complex. The US is a mess.
