Kolzig in 1998 was up there with the best playoff rune by a goalie ever. That caps team literally had 2 legitimate star players(Oates and Bondra), a couple average guys, a couple guys who were either too old or too young and a bunch of crap.

Out of all the odd runs in that era. 1996 panthers, 1998 caps, 1999 sabres, 2002 canes, 2003 ducks, 2004 flames.

I'd very easily say the 98 caps were the worst overall team. Although the 96 panthers didn't have a superstar they were more well rounded.

That's a tough call to pick out the worst finals team of that era.

I really want to say the Panthers because of their weak roster on paper, but getting through the Flyers and Pens is very impressive. Sabres and Caps didn't have to face an opponent that tough en route to the finals.

At least the Caps had an elite goal scorer in bondra. Aside from having the best player on the planet at the time in Hasek, the Sabres roster didn't really have any perennial all-stars.

Is this moment also from 1998 playoffs?

There's a Stanley Cup emblem on the ice, so it's from the playoffs at least.

Funny how Hasek throws another fist after having thrown his blocker. Looks like a kid with anger issues.

Bondra also played with that "band-aid for better breathing" thing on his nose. Just an observation.

Game 2. Caps went on to win that game in OT.
Possible cross check by today's rules, but then again, goalies used to be able to come out and play the puck. Still a funny moment, also kinda showed Hasek's compete level.
Stastný nový rok. Happy new year.
