they offered him 10m a year though didn't they and he turned it down? or am I wrong?

Nor wrong.... Just very naive but that's a different conversation I've had too many times on here.

Offering a contract doesn't mean anything. Look at Marian Hossa, remember that?

Log in to see the last 5 minutes, what a mistake, that PP was the worst and that's an understatement, at least Pageau is back too bad thathe came back to this tire fire.
Normally when you score 4 goals you have a good chance of a win or tie but with this D your score is F which leads to a L.
When's Chabby back? Not soon enuff by this losing streak oh well at least we have our 1st..

Big, no, GIGANTIC, difference between a playoff teams 1st and a lottery pick in the Hughes/Kakko franchis pick range
So it's not just a first people want but to win the lottery as the Leafs & others have done in order to win the best players in the draft. They should say that then. Ottawa have had a few chances but have yet to win the lottery & with their luck could be a while before they get another opportunity. Still even if they do, it's quite possible the #1 pick could turn into Yakopov, or they get a player who is just good & not great, not that many guarantees in the draft. They will have two first rd picks again in 2020, if they keep both picks but it's any bodies guess what happens with that. Ottawa will need to win a couple of lotteries to improve this team.

There is still time to get a first, in fact, with all the talk of moving Dzingel he might return a first. Of course, then we lose a 20 goal scorer & it's hard to know if that is worth it or not, probably not in the short term but maybe in the long term, who knows?

Ottawa could get a first, but DSF was saying that the first they would receive in a trade would be in the same position as Ottawa's would be (1-3) to get Kakko.

Boucher just interviewed... “every day is a new day; I’m not going to change my approach.”

Yakupov would not go top 5 in this years draft. He was in a pretty weak cohort while this year is a very strong one

And yet he would have been the best defensive player on ou current roster while adding 60 + points. Sure the ship sailed but it was not a good decision from a purely on ice standpoint
He wouldn't be the best defensively player. That would be Stone. Karlsson would be responsible for multiple giveways and stick checks. However I would welcome his offense.

What Sens mgmt dont realize is that they traded away a reason o GO to a SENS game when they got rid of KK as he was their best player on most nights..

They also don't realize that in trying to sully the reputation of the dressing room to avoid responsibility for a complete collapse they just make themselves and the coaches look incompetent.

It is implied...When people say they want our 1st, it's logically implied to be a top 3 pick.

Sure, they could get another Yakupov. Odds are against it though. Let's look at the top 3 picks from each draft since Yakupov's.

McDavid
Eichel

Strome
Dubois
Laine
Matthews

Hischier
Hieskanen
Patrick
Ekblad
Rienhart

Draisatl
Dahlin

Svechnikov - Looks legit
Kotkaniemi - Looks legit
MacKinnon
Barkov

Drouin
Yakupov
Galchenyuk

Murray

9 guys picked who were franchise altering
6 guys picked who are top line or pairing
3 guys struggling (Galchenyuk/Strome/Patrick)
1 Bust
2 guys who are almost certain to be 1st liners, with potential for more

A top 3 pick has ~50% of the time since Yakupov's draft resulted in a franchise altering player being selected. With this year's draft, I think that increases.
