Hmm, interesting. What's the knock on him? What role did he play for the team?
He was their 1st line center. Put up a decent amount of points. Played P.K sparingly. High energy.

I really don't ever see his offense translating to the NHL, and he really isn't very well equipped to play on a teams 4th line.

It's only my take on it, I could be likely wrong, hopefully actually. We will see in the coming weeks.

Thanks. I certainly don't expect him to bring any offense but I was more optimistic about his ability as a bottom line player.

Either way, I suspect how we feel in a few weeks will have very little to do with Dumont. We need our top guys to step up, really only Stone has been good enough imo. I'll give Duchene a pass but our other top guys have been outplayed every night for a while, besides in Sweden.

"I can't believe we traded assets for bottom-6 specialists like Stalberg! You can get guys like that for free on waivers all year! Terrible asset management!"

-(picks up Dumont for free on waivers)-

"I can't believe we claimed this bottom-6 specialist, he's for sure taking a roster spot away from one of the kids!"

-(Sens waive 28 year old Chris "clearly-not-a-prospect-nor-a-kid" DiDomenico to make room for Dumont)-

... Can't wait to hear the next chapter in this epic tale.

Stalberg was a proven bottom six specialist. Are you going out on a limb and calling dumont a bottom six specialist.

I'm
Not a dido fan but the guy has one less point this season than dumont has his entire career.

So I can be dissapointed when dumont isn't stalberg? Or are those expectations too high?

Why in earth are you in this thread then

Some potential topics of discussion that he may be interested in reading in a thread about claiming a player might include:

- Expected role on the team
- What kind of player to expect from the incoming player
- Who's spot does he take (turns out it's Dido's)

People don't just come to threads to complain.... though perhaps sometimes it feels that way.

I look forward to seeing some more aggression from the fourth line. After the game he pretty much won for us Dido didn't look like he was providing much.

Thanks for the effort and win Dido, let's see what Dumont can do :)

Cost wise, Dumont in and Dido out makes it close to a wash for this year at the NHL level and probably only a bit higher next year in the AHL. Dido will help the B-Sens now but I wonder if they'll want him or if he even would want to re-sign next year knowing he''ll drop even further from an NHL recall as more of the prospects mature.

People act like adding no offense from the bottom of the lineup is chill. We actually need some of these guys to chip in.

Sure, but that's not an option we have currently. Dido didn't score a single point in the bottom 6 - he scored on the PP and with Hoffman, Brassard and Stone. And then he stopped scoring altogether.

Not only that, but our bottom 6 has contributed just fine. It's our top 6 that is struggling. Three guys over .5PPG and yet it's Burrows, Thompson, Pyatt to blame because they're only scoring at .4PPG?

Boucher brought on Pyatt and Thompson - two guys he coached in Tampa and have both been excellent as Senators, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Don't think Dumont is anything more than an okay 4th liner, but picking him up on waivers for free easily beats trading assets like Dahlen or a 3rd for bottom 6 depth.

Thompson apparently hates playing against Dumont and was happy about the pickup according to Boucher.

I would think 3 guys over .5 ppg is normal. I could be wrong. I'm not taking blame away from the top 6 though. Stone needs help.

Again. Not BLAMING pyatt and Thompson for losses.

When I say we need these guys to chip in. I'm NOT saying that currently, collectively, they are not. I'm saying that we should be looking bottom 6/3 players that have the ability to contribute. When people start acting like they hit the jackpot everyone a bottom 6er scores I kinda scratch my head. It's part of their job and we're trying to build a winner. We need these guys to contribute. Especially since our top 6 isn't quite as good a second people think it is imo. At least not the way Boucher deploys it.

Right now this team is having trouble scoring. I don't think it was time for dumont

You're last paragraph is true. Okay. I like this pickup relative to the alternative

He's not a savior but we are on a losing streak right now. Sometimes, a small deal like that can help wake the team a bit.

I am so excited to come on this board if we win tonight to see people crediting Gabriel Dumont because "he was the spark this team needed"

I like this guy so far. Not going to be a point producer but he knows his role. Probably has the most hustle on thw team, skates and battles hard and plays physical. Reminds me of a lesser Pageau. Hard to complain aabout that.
