Really doubt that. It's like no one with the CBJ bothered to show him around the city or houses in the burbs, based on his comments while here and since he left.
It's a commute to New York City. I suspect that's his motivation.Still don’t understand why Panarin would leave Cbus to live in Connecticut. I understood the moving to NYC (i.e., the actual city) thing; that’s something Cbus can’t provide (huge city lifestyle, Russian population, etc.). Don’t really get the point of going out there to not actually live in NYC when he could have gotten just as nice of a house in Dublin or New Albany or UA for much cheaper with a much better commute than what he has now. But whatever, I digress...

Because one may want to be close to a big city to be able to experience it on-demand, without necessarily having to spend the entirety of one's life there?So... why not just live there?
I don't know that you pay him more than Werenski and Jones but he might get 4.75 for 3 years would be a spitball guess. Keeps him under Werenski in Savard territory.Bringing this back to Gav, what kind of contract will he get? He's shown me he can be a solid second pairing guy with some offensive upside, if he wants term I'd go 8/40 or if he wants a bridge to make a case for more on the next one, I'd go 2/6

No real reason to live in NYC to experience it. Nothing wrong with commuting. There is also nothing to stop Panarin from having an apartment (or a super fine hotel suite) in NYC for when he wants to make a night of it and not bother going back homeSo... why not just live there?
That's probably why you still live in the Columbus area (I assume?) and people who prefer something else live elsewhere.

I would stay away from a long term deal given Zaitsev example
It’s got nothing to do with nationality but with similar situations, he came out of the KHL and had a strong first season, then immediately got signed to a big contract which caused the trade to Ottawa thenCan not compare them just because they are from the same country.

I want one.A few more facts you may or may not about Gavrikov:
- he leads the team with +6
- he was voted the best defense man at 2015 World Juniors
- I bought #44 t shirt yesterday
I looked it up the other day and based on his instagram location time stamp (which was just general Greenwich) it was 55 minutes by car, 1.5 hrs by train... neither of which is short or desirable in my mind..In the city you never escape the hustle and bustle that is NYC. As other have said it is a short commute to the city and I'm sure at his salary he has a driver at his disposal. Although it is a long way to Brighton Beach and the large Russian community.
Hard to believe he's only 24... him and Boone both look like 30+ year old lumberjacks straight out of a Brawn commercialHe's 24, will be 25 next November. I'd give him a 4-6 year deal and be comfortable with it.
