Hello,

Islander fan coming in peace !! For the last year of the Joe, some friends and I are coming to the 2/21 game. Never been to Detroit so would appreciate any help on where to stay, places to eat before the game, how to get to the game without a car, etc. Also looking to possibly get seats near where the Islanders would enter the ice but haven't seen on the net what section that is--appreciate any help.

Section 121

There are better restaurants, but nothing is wrong with this one, but IMO you have to go to Hockeytown Cafe just for the sake of it. They have a shuttle to the arena as well (as many locations do).

I'd offer more but if you have time, you can do a search and find similar threads with many folks' opinions and input already there to go through. Or of course this ought to fill up as people see it throughout the next few days :)

Since you guys will be down Feb 're going to want to stay decently close to JLA. I'd suggest either staying at greektown casino, motor city casino or like hilton garden Inn down in detroit, you can take the people mover or taxi cab to JLA. There are also tons of resturants all over. If you stay at greektown for instance you can gamble, get food (there is a huge strip of places to eat all within incredibly short walking distance to greektown) take the people mover to and from the game and not really have to worry about much. There is a lot to do and see down there, most people think Detroit is like a barren wasteland...it's really not!

Must agree here concerning the Greektown area.

The last time I was in Detroit I went solo - stayed at the Greektown Casino (gambling was nothing special to be honest, but the rooms were very nice)...Many bars/restaurants withing walking distance, and the People Mover, or bar shuttle buses make getting to the Joe fairly easy.

Just an FYI - you really need to check out the Ford Museum, and truck plant in Dearborn (that is if you like the Ford brand, or are a car nut).

Have fun - you'll find Red Wing fans are pretty tame in comparison to those from Chicago, or Philly.
