Vinny is one of my favorite players and when I lived in florida I loved watching him play. It seems like hes been in the league for 15 years, but hes only 30. How many more productive years do you guys think he has left and how many career points do you think he will end up with?

I'm beginning to think we need a Gagne/Lecavalier point production thread stickied like the Ranger disappearance thread.

I think alot of people are forgetting Vinny was out for a chunk of the year with the hand injury.

As of now, he has 23 points, and for not playing all the games this year I think that's pretty good.

I like his chances at continuing to play at a high level for the next few years.

yea coming off a broken hand I think hes doing wonders in his recovery. he makes a ton of solid plays every game and i think he will do great in the playoffs. I just want him to accomplish 1,000 pts before his career is done.

I really think he will be able to. As long as he stays healthy he should have no problem getting to 1,000.

We don't need Vinny to score 40 goals.

He's mainly there to keep the second line strong and viable with Gagne and Malone.

Truer than you intended, although I have to give him credit over the past few weeks or so. He's begun to turn it around.

Based on how Vinny looks in that pic, I'd say Forever Malone.

Bumping this thread from last year.

I'd like to know a little more about my good fellow quebec native Vinny. So here are a few questions for you:

    1. How would you resume his 2011-2012 season?
    2. What kind of role and production do you expect in 2012-2013?
    3. Tell me more about his injury status.

    Thanks a lot!

Didn't Vinny just say earlier this year that his shoulder is finally feeling good after the 2008 surgery - which is exactly when his number started dropping. Add that plus all the hand injuries he had in the past two seasons.

He's two months younger than I am, of course he has gas left in the tank.

Pretty much this. He'll miss a few games with some random ass injury because that's just his ****ing luck but about 20-25 goals, 60-70 points is where I think he'll end up. Which for a 2nd line center is pretty decent.

Don't give a **** about his salary. It's not perfect but there isn't **** we can do about it and it's not exactly handcuffing the team either so who cares?

If hes healthy all season long im expecting 60 points and anywhere upto 80. I really believe Vinny still has another 80 point season in him. Especially if Stammer can have Teddy and another winger not named Marty on his Line. That way Marty and Vinny can re-unite and create some more magic!

Assuming he plays a full 82 games, 25goals and 70points seems like reasonable expectations to have.

Injuries (either to him or linemates) will obviously lower those numbers.

If he winds up clicking with Brown (or whichever kid is playing on his wing) or gets significant time with MSL and/or Purcell then he could put up even better numbers.

25/70 in 82 seems like a good starting point though.

I think he really needs one of either Purcell or Marty on his wing. He doesn't really have any chemistry with Malone and he has a history of not clicking with players that are/were supposed or expected to fit his style (Tanguay, regular season Gagne, and many others come to mind). That's why I wasn't against a Prospal re-signing (we still pay him anyway).

Last season I thought Shannon would be a good fit (speedy, intelligent player) but it didn't work out. Downie on his line didn't work either. Brown looked great in his 5 games and especially on a line with Vinny but that's a very small sample size. Pouliot could work and so could Conacher (or even a more mature Connolly) but that's all just speculation.

I think the top-6 lines we finished the season with looked like this:

Malone - Stamkos - St. Louis
    Brown - Lecavalier - Purcell

Marty and Teddy can both switch between lines and if Brown is able to extend his solid play over 70-80 games and Vinny stays healthy I could definitely see him with 25-30 goals / 30-35 assists.

If Vinny can stay healthy for a full season I think 60-70 points is a reasonable expectation. If he can click with his linemates then 70 is a serious possibility. The problem with Vinny over the past couple years seems to be that (disregarding his shoulder) he gets all these smaller injuries. They'll only keep him out for a little while, but even when he starts playing again it's evident that they're still affecting him. Then once he finally seems to have gotten over an injury he gets another one just a couple weeks later.

We've seen glimpses of the 'old Vinny' every once and a while, and I think that if he can remain healthy for the year we'll see more of that. I for one think he's got plenty of productive years left in him.

All that being said, I'm not sure we'll ever see Vinny play again like he did in 06-07 and 07-08 leading up to his injury, even if he gets 100% healthy and stays that way. Not only is he older, but his game has changed, and I don't think that's just because of the injuries. He's become more responsible defensively, and I think he's sacrificed a bit of that creative offensive brilliance in the process.

    I can't figure this out.

Vinny always looks like he is the best player on the ice.
(yes Stamkos gets the goals but Vinny just looks more awesome, all around)

I just don't get it. Is it injuries? or what? (for the lack of scorring points for, on paper, A stud))

    _______________________________________________________________

btw ..... theres always the Magic talk when St. Louie and Vinny end up scorring together. But .... (and yes I have no stats to back up what I say). But in my head it seems like that magic just doesn't happen as often as we might think, while they are playing together. (I'm not sold that Vinny needs Louie)

Saying all this .... Vinny has had tremendous seasons and believe it or not at 32
you just don't go into a spiraling downfall.

He has it all and I'm going to boldly predict that he puts an unbeleivable season together
and ends up over 90 points.

    Why?

Point one ........Because Stevie is putting a tremendous team together and Stamkos is going to get the main heat, giving Vinny some extra room.

Point two ....... The power play was horrible, last year. That will be corrected this year and will be a top 5, power play unit. (because of Matt, Map and Salo for starters and that the need for improvement needs attention) ... the studs we have will make this happen easialy. (and Vinny will be there on that first unit, the guy is unbeleivable on A power play if you have not noticed.

Vinny was demoted to the 2nd unit before (several times actually). Imagine what if he still had his onetimer from back in the days: Nonstop bombs from the left (Stammer) and right circle (Vinny). But since the shoulder injury it only occurs like once or twice per season that he actually winds it up like that anymore.
