What player was Vincent Lecavalier often compared to during his draft year (1998) and years before that?

He was said to be somewhere between a Pierre Turgeon and Mario Lemieux due to his QMJHL roots, lanky size and goal scoring, compared to Joe Thornton since Thornton went first over all a year before he did, and of course Jean Beliveau, to whom he's always patterned his image after.

Other than being touted as being hockey's michael jordan he was also supposed to be the next Jean Beliveau.

I think it was just something stupid the lightning owner said on draft day. Im pretty sure nobody in the scouting world thought Lecavalier was going to be the "Michael Jordan of hockey"

Definitely Art Williams. Someone who had no idea what a puck was and just wanted a toy.

He was compared a lot to Jean Beliveau. Almost exact height and weight on draft day.

He wears #4 because his grandfather loved Jean Beliveau and Lecavalier also has it for Bobby Orr.
