Before he played an NHL game, I didn't think he would live up to the hype immediately because I thought he would just get manhandled. Then I went to the Blues home opener which was against the Oilers and McDavid's first game. As soon as I saw him in warmups, I said to myself,"How's this kid gonna get manhandled if people can't touch him?". I finally understood all the hype. What an exciting player to watch.

It's a shame he has such an awful shot. Most 4th line goons can shoot harder and more accurately than him.

You need to keep up. It's not that he has a bad shot, it's that he doesn't use it enough. And guess what he's been working on this summer? Bingo. He himself said he wants to try and keep opponents on their toes. If he learns to use his shot more, freakin watch out, man.

Yep. Like I said, Crosby didn't have a wrister that good in his first few seasons.

I've always said the same thing. McDavid has always had the harder wrist shot, he just needs to learn how to get it away quicker. Crosby always had a pretty quick snap shot that he used instead of a wrister. It wasn't all that powerful until he hit 22-23 but it was quick enough to get off in traffic and surprise goalies.

Part of the difference in their shooting can be attributed to differences in their sticks. Crosby has always used a short stick with a flat curve (great for quick release, poor for power) while McDavid uses a longer stick with more curve (slower release, more power). I think with McDavid's play style he could stand to adjust his stick a bit to favor being able to get the puck off a little quicker.

I could watch him skate all day. Some of those clips are just breathtaking. There's the speed, and then there's the agility while at speed. And somehow he gets faster without moving his feet, I don't even know how that works.

I pray the NHL doesn't let them break this kid, he's something special.

This is why Oilers fans know McDavid and his 100 point season isn't close to what he's capable of topping out at.

I think those in the East that only see the odd game or watch his highlight clips don't understand he's doing this type of stuff 2 or 3 times a period and a lot of the time either his teammates didn't finish or his release let him down (something he's dedicated the offseason to improving). In reality, though it can be said for every player, Connor could've, and probably should've finished with around at least 110-115 points last year.

Definitely capable of hitting 120 this year if he stays healthy and gets a little puck luck.

Crosby maxed out at 120pts. McDavid isn't reaching that amount unless there are significant changes to help improve scoring.
