1.) Dead eye really helps, and has a few different improvements that make it drastically more effective. If your dead eye runs out, treat the game like a cover shooter or refill it.

2.) Don't feel shackled to food and drink, and especially not to preparing it yourself. I forget all the time and wander into fights with a big red heart, it just means you might have to burn an extra tonic or two. Only thing I tend to craft myself is ammo, since something like splitting the bullets for your revolvers will reduce dead eye drain.

3.) Brushing your horse can be done on your horse, even in cinematic mode (food and drink as well). If you can get into the habit of doing that kind of upkeep while you're riding, it will cut down on your in-town "chores". It's also pretty optional and mostly for bonding with a new horse a little quicker, so you can ignore or abuse the mechanic at your leisure. Brushing your horse constantly is basically the equivalent of repairing your car in GTA every time it gets too dinged up.

4.) Speaking of cinematic mode, I didn't think the game explained it very well but it's entirely hands-free travel. You shouldn't get up and go to the bathroom, because you can still get held up by random events, but it will keep you on the roads at a decent speed, and you can manually tap A to sprint along the way. Besides that, stagecoaches, trains, and the camp map will do the rest.

5.) In general, don't hoard your money or supplies. Smokes, drinks, and tonics are pretty easy to come by on dead bodies, and much like the real Old West there comes a point where the only thing you can do with the money is make everything you own look fancier. I thought the forced bounty thing was kind of silly too, but realized soon after that at a certain point you don't need money much for equipment progression, so tucking some story progression behind bounties makes sense.

6.) That said, it's probably better to pay bounties than buy guns or horses. You can find a lot of both in the open world over time (some have set locations, like the pump action shotgun or legendary Arabian), and dead eye basically makes any gun viable. There are plenty of missions where I don't even bother shouldering any rifles/shotguns, and use a pair of upgraded early-game revolvers just for the aesthetic. You "level" but don't get much more traditionally "powerful" like other games, a bullet to the head is a bullet to the head for the most part.

7.) Even cowboys in movies sometimes knew they were outgunned. If you're being held up, sometimes it's better to stop for them and "surrender". Hold(?) Y/Triangle to dismount and raise your hands and at least one or two of them will approach you to take your stuff. gives you a few moments to evaluate the situation and look for cover, escape routes, or softly start pressing the trigger down to begin that duelist's draw. Ambushes are little trickier, generally the idea is to run and pick them off on horseback while they're playing catch up rather than trying to fight on the spot.

Just some stuff I noticed that may or may not help after reading the thread and playing a bit today.

RDR 2 is the best game I've played in the last decade. I sunk 80 hours into and when it was done I found myself wanting more.

The game has its issues, every game does, but it's also the best story I've ever seen told in a game. I'll put it this way, for the first 20 hours I played classic cowboy style. I robbed, killed, was a huge a-hole. As the story unfolds it becomes a really endearing and subtle story of finding some level of redemption in yourself even when you know it can't out weigh all the bad you've done. The game at no point incentivizes you to play a more honest and pure way, in fact you find it hurts you, but by the end I found my character near broke because I had given away everything because I bought so much into Arthur's story.

when in doubt, just think about the Western movie equivalent of what you're about to do. If your plan involves a battle cry and wading through the street guns blazing, you're gonna die unless you've got Kurt Russell's duster and shotgun.

game tends to reward/allow you to come up with some interesting real-life solutions to problems. I found myself trapped in a house during a firefight and there was no way I was getting out of the doorway alive, so I shot out the back window, hopped on to the awning, and came around front to a shooting gallery on my terms.

Also: don't forget about throwables like dynamite or fire bombs if you really need to get some guys dead.

Whats bad about current Quake is you have to wait significant time to get appropriate opponents. Those 30 mins AlexBro has mean only 1 match unlike 2 in Fifa. That sucks.

And things are worse in NA actually.

Have shelved RDR2 for a bit. It's just too slow and tedious right now. At one point I was sitting there thinking "I am sitting in a recliner controlling a digital cowboy who's making coffee...what am I doing with my life?"

Back to FIFA.

Also, why can't I just change squads during the pre-game config in offline FIFA squad battles? If I finish one game why do I have to back all the way out and scroll over to squads, pick a new squad, then go all the way back to the other half of the menu? There's a lot of that in this game. Too many side menus.

The transactions are particularly annoying, especially in a squad building challenge. I should be able to just search for players, buy them, and apply them directly to the squad right there. I know this technology exists. Yet for some reason I have to back out of 4-5 layers of menu to get back to the main FUT menu, scroll over to transactions, process the guy I just bought so he appears on my roster, and go all the way back to where I was, find the slot I was going to put him in, search my team for him, and add him to the squad. What? Why???

Then there's shopping for players by team chemistry vs individual chemistry. How annoying is it to find a guy who boosts your team chem by several points only to find out that he somehow tanks the individual chemistry of players around him, even when the links are orange or green. WHAT? WHY???

Also, why can't I just play a full season offline for a given favorite team? Am I missing this somewhere?

And pro tip, do not think you can just jack the difficulty to the highest setting when facing a scrub CPU/AI team in squad battles. Even if they're 20 points worse than you they will still tear you a new one and you'll be lucky to get off a shot. Through balls no longer work. Every 50/50 ball goes the other way. Your guys are always covered. And players with shots in the 60s are suddenly volleying missiles past your goalie's head.

Don't ask me how I know this.

I actually just restarted RDR2 this week and I'm enjoying it a bit more understanding that I'm just killing time and not trying to accomplish anything.

I haven't played FIFA in a while. I won the Division I title in online seasons and then won the Premier Cup so I figured it was all downhill from there.

I play a full season by choosing the Manager option....yeah, that’s computer opponents only. That’s literally 99% of my use, you’re the complete opposite lol.

RDR 2 is so damn immersive with so many great things to do. I love it how you can a take break from questing and just pass away the time at the blackjack table :)

I love it. Started the story again so I can take my time and try to finish all possible missions and side stuff as I go along. Very challenging. Online beta is meh right now but it is beta. That should be a blast as well once the wrinkles are ironed out.

Yeah, it's a demo, but Anthem is 'meh'. Have to play it with a controller due to horrible mouse & keyboard controls. Turned the difficulty down to compensate and it became too easy. Don't understand how people can play these types of games with a controller. Haven't played a console in over 8 years, guess I'm out of practice.

Trailers were much more exciting than the actual demo. The process is meh. Deleted it and wont buy.

Just gimme doom eternal.

Gave Anthem another go yesterday, gets better once you get used to it. Might get it if it were to go on sale, or once they add a decent amount of content.

Ok on a previous complaint, you can change squads in FUT while in the pre-game screen rather than backing out of several menus. It's a bit buried but instead of starting the game you hit "edit lineup" and then triangle (ps4) for the squad menu and then the first option is "squad selector". Also available in the regular squad section. Duh.

But the squad building challenges and other purchases related to FUT are tedious because of poor menu constructions.

As Raik has said tho, they're making shitloads of cash so they're probably not worried about it.

Been playing mad scientist with lineups. Decided to create the worst possible squad from any bronze or silver players I hadn't already ejected for coins or squad building challenges, and ended up with a group ranked 62 and chemistry in the low 30s. Putrid. Then I played an 85 rated TOTW on Professional and lost 1-0 by virtue of an unstoppable corner header by ridiculous 99 rated special Modric.

The conclusion I came to is that if you 're good at manual defense then player rank in that regard is basically meaningless (other than set pieces where strength, jumping, etc dominate) so forget the individual defensive ratings or defensive specialists among your forwards and midfielders. Leave the defensive stats to your 3 man back line and good keeper, and even then make sure your backs are good passers or fast.

(note: David Luiz with a full 10 individual chemistry and the right player chem boost will almost always strip any player of the ball just by running into him due to perfect standing tackle score)

So now I'm focusing on building squads that are all about offense (and chemistry to boost the offensive modifiers from chem buffs). The AI is going to cheat in the 2nd half and put you on your heels no matter what, so may as well have some firepower.

There is also a thing, an urban legend or religion, if you like. HANDICAP. The more the difference between team ratings the better lower skilled squad performs and dumber better rated squad looks.

So playing 62 against 90 is not that impossible. Other than handicap no theory explains this.

But EA denies handicap every time. I guess it's true then.

EDIT: Means your million coins 90 rated TOTW forward will miss easy shots from the box against some silver noname goalie... Actually, will not control the ball long before missing and lose it for no reason whatever buttons you will press or not.

EDIT2: f*** it, will uninstall ASAP. May or June.

Not even the best Uncharted game, IMO. 2 > 1 > 4 > 3

Interesting... I have 1 as the worst easily, although I played it after 2 and 3.

2>3>4>5/LL>1

All great games of course... hope we see another one someday, don't want another dead Playstation franchise.

I played them in order, so I could get how someone wouldn't enjoy 1 as much as the others if it wasn't how they were introduced to the franchise. Being dropped into such a well-done cinematic game was a game changer at the time.

3 is easily the worst, IMO, though. I can accept jumbling around 1, 2, and 4 in rankings to an extent (although most agree 2 is the best), but I don't see much in 3 that makes it worth ranking above the rest.

As someone who rarely touches his PS4, I'm okay with franchises that wrap up in a timely fashion. Bad or unnecessary sequels irk me. Among Naughty Dog games, I enjoyed The Last of Us even more than any Uncharted, and even that I don't really want TLOU2 to be a thing (because the original was such a well done package that I don't feel it needed a sequel).
