Yes and he will always lose battles because of his stature, that's why his focus needs to be about positioning instead. Also, when you skate like him, you have to let him develop his offensive game but when he was supposed to do that, he was playing top pair D next to Weber out of pure desperation from this management.
You have to have an offensive skills in order to develop them.

How about both? He can bulk up a bit in the offseason, he will still be a fast player, and he can continue to work on positioning too.

It's not about bulking about, it's about him being told he needs to be more aggressive and physical. That should not be at all his focus. It's like when people would argue every player like Lapierre or Emelin just had to drop the gloves because they either hit or have an in your face style, or how Lats and Patches just had to be physical players due to their size.
We don't feed into players' strength here to help solidify their game, instead we try to change and mold them into what managements wants them to be.
Doesn't work that way.

True enough. You can’t teach offensive ability. You either draft a player that has offensive skills otherwise you’ve drafted a defensive asset. Mete himself spent several months working with a renowned shooting coach two summers ago — I couldn’t tell the difference.

He's got some great skating, can move the puck well, what he needed is to develop this further in the AHL, but we bypassed that and it failed miserably.
He does both of these things at a fairly high level...he just doesn't do it in a way to leads to offensive chances.

Is that something he can improve?

Sure...

But maybe that's just not him.

I'm not sure why anyone sees Mete as a fail.

and yet, the season after that summer of working with a shooting coach, his shooting % went from 0, to 7%...

he's got 5 in his last 73 games, meanwhile Kulak has 1 goal in over 100 games while making 2.2M next year. They waived the wrong guy imo.

4 goals will make you forget the fact that he was solid defensively in the top 4 with Petry while Mete was an absolute disaster in last year playoffs? Cmon.

Mete clearly can't play RD, that's on the coaching staff for continuing to put him on his off-side despite how clear it was that it wasn't working. But this is the same group that keeps rolling out Chiaroit Weber when they are a -15 since Chiarot came back.

People crap on Mete for his lack of offense, when Kulak is worse offensively while making more then double the cap hit. Management made a mistake, should have waived Kulak imo.

Mete wasn't a disaster in the last playoffs. He was on the ice FOR ONE SINGLE GOAL ALLOWED IN 10 GAMES, carrying Ouellet and playing on his offside. Explain to me how a player is a disaster when he allows only one goal on over 100 minutes of play and finishes with the team's highest on-ice save%. Not only this, but he had 2 pts in 6 games vs Philly while shitrot had 0 pts and finished -6 vs Philly.

You know, it's not because you can type on a keyboard that it means you'll write anything relevant.
