His re-signing didn't even get a new thread so I'll just post this here.

7 goals his last 6 NHL games dating back to last April. He was recalled a few weeks ago but still leads the AHL in scoring. Looks like he's got something to prove.

True, if he ever worked on his skating, he would be a decent middle six winger but outside of his shot, he doesn't bring much as you stated. He's fine in stretches for 3rd line depth scoring, mostly on the PP.

I said in this thread he needed to diversify his game and I'd say he has. His shot is definitely the best part of his game but he's looked better than in years past.

Watched him on the Rangers, he's not as bad as what people make him out to be. Good triggerman on the PP, good guy to have for less than $1M. Will score 20 goals in the right situation
