Suzuki, Hague and Glass should all be playing for Canada at the next WJC.
Elvenes should join Brannstrom on team Sweden as well.

Hague now at 31 goals
Suzuki has 15 points in his last 7 games
Glass with 4 goals, 9 points his last 5 games
Brannstrom picked up a goal and an assist today. He has 5 points his last 4 games in the SHL (2g 3a)
"hacksaw" Jack Dugan is in the top 4 in USHL scoring after a big showing in January
Maksim Zhukov leads the USHL in wins and has a .951% in his last 6 games with one shutout

Brannstrom's recent surge is really impressive! Last I checked he had something like 10 points in 38 games.

Also it's clear Glass is "the guy" in Portland. You look at the top scorers in the WHL and the guys with mind bending numbers tend to have a teammate or two with similarly stupid numbers. The next highest scorer on Glass' team has 11 fewer points with 8 more games played. And without that kind of ridiculously high scoring support that a team like Swift Current has, Glass is still 10th in league scoring. I hope he takes some time to bulk up over the summer.

Suzuki is in a similar situation with Owen Sound but I'd argue it's harder to score in the OHL so we'll see who comes in with more firepower

Kolesar has been putting up points since being recalled from the ECHL. 6 points in 7 games.

Bischoff has also been hot as of late. He scored again last night giving him 4 goals in his last 11 games after going without scoring his first 42 games.

Somewhere in Oregon.
I think he picked up an assist as well. Dansk is really putting it all together!
I missed that! Wonder if we're gonna see him here again this season. Was thinking if Max' next start, if Flower ever gives him a chance, doesn't go so well and Malcolm not back yet maybe we might get to Dansk again at some point.

Plus, Malcolm hadn't looked so sharp in the last few games before he got hurt.

Probably will call up/keep third goalie for playoffs, Even though Chicago is likely heading to AHL playoffs.

Could even sign undrafted/European prospect goalie for playoffs. #1 goalies in playoffs don't face a lot of practice rubber. #2 and third goalies get majority of practice rubber.

Brannstrom's HV71 is in a best of 3 playoff wildcard elimination round. It starts today for anyone that wants to catch him.

HV71 lost 3-1 but Brannstrom picked up an assist when his shot was deflected in.

some observations:
-not the fastest but he makes up for it with smart positioning. He lost a foot race in center ice which led to a breakaway but he hustled & was able to take away the shot without taking a penalty.
-he is TINY. Looks more like he's 5'9 but no way he's over 5'10
-he made some great dangles at the blueline to get the forward to bite then got the shot through his legs for the tip in. Won't have that much space in the NHL though
-his coach put him out to start the 3rd down by a goal. That's a lot of trust for an 18yo in the SHL.
-he's their #1 PP unit QB and plays the right point with a forward (he was on the right side most of the game and looked comfortable). Looks like he loves to one time it with no hesitation but it's not a crazy heavy shot.
-he made some dandy 2 line passes and sprung former Devils 1st rounder Tedenby a few times

Let's just say the way his past few weeks have gone I wouldn't be surprised if Brannstrom makes the team next year. And maybe 5'9 is being generous.

Brannstrom's HV71 was eliminated today. He had another impressive showing, and although he was on the ice for a goal, he was covering his man in front.

This kid's passing is a thing of beauty, and you wouldn't know he's only 18 & 1/2 by the way he plays against grown men. He's aggressive when he has to be and is surprisingly strong for his size. It's a shame the forwards aren't very skilled - he made a great move on the PP to skate into the faceoff circle pass through 2 opponents to an open man who whiffed on it. Brannstrom's positioning is excellent and he reads the play very well in the neutral zone.

some other notes:
-he took a chintzy penalty late in the 1st but the reffing sucked all game. The other team was flopping like they were shot
-one of the other defensemen for HV71 was absolutely destroyed with an open ice hit. Had to be taken to hospital and I hope he's OK.
-'monster' Gustafsson made an unreal goal line save

Hope he can come over to the Wolves for the playoffs.

It might be advantageous for Brannstrom to stay another year in the SHL. Considering their very light schedule, it would allow for a lot more off ice training than the grind of the N/A leagues.

I know he is one of those wiry strong little guys, and the NHL is consistently getting smaller, softer, and weaker, but more strength for a defenseman is still advantageous until it affects your skating...which Erik is 20-30 pounds away from that even being a consideration.

Playing in the AHL playoffs doesn't affect his ELC slide status, so he can always go back next September.

Who knows, maybe he'll get an invite to play for Sweden at the WHC. His defense partner, Pilut, was expected to be named to the roster but he was the one I mentioned that got rocked with a hit. I don't know if it's likely but they might ask Brannstrom in his stead.
