He's coming along nicely. Just needs to get even quicker over the summer. Depending on what they decide to do with Brannstrom this season, Hague should make the opening night roster next year IMO.

As far as usage, eh, still being handled with kid gloves a bit. The Wolves tend to dress 7 D with Oligny taking the odd shift. You can never be too careful I guess. The Eagles started taking runs at Brannstrom early in the season.

Good to hear! Thx for the insight and for the clip of this beauty of a goal

I actually thought Hague would be more slow to make the roster. They already have four signed long term and Brannstrom definitely will make the team so that leaves one spot and they have Holden and Whitecloud more ready and even could bring back Engelland on a team friendly deal. Hague needs time with that tall frame and his skating.

Holden, Engelland or even Miller shouldn't impact what's best for the prospects though. If Hague is ready next year, you don't hold him back unless it's temporary - to make some roster moves in order to call him up.

Whitecloud should have seen some NHL games this year. Same with Bischoff. Though if anything, their waiver-exempt status will make them good options for AHL depth next year. I suspect that's why they haven't played any games yet this season.

If you count ties, Brannstrom is currently tied for third in AHL defenseman scoring.

While Glass is fourth in the WHL overall with 54 points in 26 games. Though if you account that the third highest scorer is his teammate Blichfeld with 56 p in 30 gp, you can make the argument that Glass has been the WHL's third best forward.

Honestly, the CHL barring its players from going to the AHL until a certain age can be so stupid. Glass is just dummying that league night in and out. He should have spent this year playing against bigger and better players.

CHL is paid by the NHL to help develop players. The teams "pay" for that privelege by trying to keep young superstar players to get the folks to come to the game.

Anybody smarter / has more time than me know who Vegas possibly had representing them in the WJC’s?

Brannstrom, who I think is still eligible should be the captain of Sweden, we know Glass is virtually a lock for Canada (and should be a top 6 center imo) , but anyone else?

Glass, Brannstrom, Elvenes and Rondbjerg are the locks.

Patera might be one of the Czech goalies and Morozov might make team Russia (both are in their respective camp)

How did I forget Elvenes...he’s a player I am very interested in following his career progression. Boom / bust prospect that fellow Swedes seem to think has great upside and is very underrated. He’s 7th in team scoring but younger than any of the guys above him by at least 4 years, even up to 10.

Rondbjerg just doesn’t impress me from what i’ve seen, and the stat line is underwhelming. He is not producing well so far. I’ve read he’s extremely raw, and a defensive specialist at that, but 2 points, -10 (worst on the team) in 23 games isn’t a good look. I guess he has suited up for every game in the SEL, so his coach must think highly of his defensive game. It will be interesting if he makes it, to compare him to his peers.

Goalies, I know nothing about so i’m not even going to guess with those two.

I think there’s a real shot (should be a lock) Brannstrom is captain of team Sweden as he was phenomenal last year (looked very good next to Dahlin) and Rasmus Andersson is aged out.

I don’t see Glass getting a letter as there’s a couple returnees that usually get preference over first year guys. I do expect him to go PPG or + and get a lot of ice time.

Kruse keeps on cruising along with 6 goals 25 points in 19 games

Hague keeps scoring with his 8th tonight on the PP...and his 5th in the last 4 games! Kolesar scored his 5th (9 points his last 11 games)

Wolves lead 2-1 after 1

is it too early to start the Hag-Wagon??

Carr with another 2 point night so far.

As well as Pirri. Pirri has been on an absolute tear with 5 goals & 12 points his last 5 games. He leads the entire AHL in scoring.

I know it was for spot 4th line duty, but how the hell do you not reward a guy like that with a call up over freakin Carr and Duke?

It’s not like his NHL career prospects are over...dude is 27.

Duke was great in the rookie tournament as well as the main camp. He spent almost all of last year out with a shoulder injury.

Right now he's centering Carr and Macek with Quinney out.

Some of these kids like Kolesar and Duke need a little more pro time against grown men but they definitely have the talent to be effective 3rd liners one day.

Because Pirri's game is suited for the AHL. He folds under the defensive pressure of the NHL everywhere he goes.

The Wolves won their 6th straight today.

Whitecloud scored twice. He's got 6 points in his last 5 games now.
Pirri had a goal and 2 assists
Carr had a goal and an assist again
Hyka had a goal and an assist
Kolesar scored
Macek picked up 2 assists. He has 4 points his last 3 games after going on a cold streak of 1 point in 12 games.
DDR stopped 23 of 24 shots

E: this clip also includes the OT winner at the end(pre-tournament, so Russia & Sweden agreed to play OT & SO no matter what, but after getting 4-2'd in reg and losing OT, Russia had enough and left before SO), which was Elvenes had the initial shot, and Olofsson tapped in the rebound:

Brännström also got a secondary assist on Fagemo's goal(who GMGM should totally draft).

Brannstrom is legitimately the best defenseman in the tournament. He has some competition, but I think he takes the award for best defenseman.

And that Elvenes drive to create the goal in OT....beauty. Hoping for a point per game from him.

On an a-side - Glass is playing tonight at 5pm. Should be a stream somewhere.

Considering Brännström can do it all, and did it all last year too(PK, PP, 5v5 against top lines) he should be the favorite considering he just keeps getting better. Only dman you can make a case for against him imo is Jokiharju, who had a hot spell with the Hawks.

Some more stuff(setting up teammates who do not capitalize on the chances) from Elvenes during the 1st period:

He just oozes potential, can't wait to see him in the big league in 2-3 seasons.
