Tom Wilson with the People's right hand raining down some old school hockey justice while the linesmen just watch; Orlov with the 3 Stooges move to produce an Av on Av collision to spring the winning goal; and Kuzy with a 5 hole OT winner into The Bird celly: are we not entertained?

Because fighting isn't a deterrent and never has been. ****ty players are going to do ****ty things.

You don't think Cole will think, even a tiny bit, about Wilson (and if he is on the ice) before he does that to a Washington Capital again?

I seriously don't expect Cole to be a repeat offender as a result of what happened last night. Had Wilson not been on the ice, Cole might have skated because he could walk away from a challenge. Doing it right in Wilson's face like that aint gonna fly. Will that beat down keep another player from getting cheap? Maybe.

The number of incidents of Caps getting targeted like that were plentiful during the suspension and far less so afterward. Just sayin

No, why would he? The threat of getting beat up isn't going to stop a guy from making a dumb hit.

Here are some other reasons one might not want to make a bad hit (in no particular order):

1. Because you respect fellow athletes and don't want to injure them needlessly
2. You don't want to put your team on the PK
3. You don't want to get suspended and hurt your team
4. You don't want to lose money from forfeited salary if you are suspended
5. You don't want a reputation that will hurt your team (and your own personal value) later on

If these 5 reasons aren't enough to stop someone from making a dumb hit then I don't think absorbing a few uppercuts, no matter how damaging, is going to enter your calculus when deciding to make a dirty hit either.

Wilson has emasculated 3 guys in 7 fights (Coburn, Oleksiak, Cole), bloodied 5 guys out of 13, I'd be more scared of him than 1-5

1. Sure it will. If the dumb hit is premeditated. if its game planned. You are assuming that it was just something that happened....like, oops.
2. Guys that play dirty don't usually do it by accident. They do it on purpose and they aren't thinking about putting their team on the pk.
3. ok....it still happens and those guys that play on the edge are hired because they play on the edge
4. They don't care about the money.
5. Are you kidding? Do you really think dirty players or big hitter players worry about a reputation?? Twabs...This is North American hockey. Next thing you are going to say is that professional hockey players aren't afraid of guys like Tom Wilson.

No. Not every second. But I would bet every 5 on 5 shift of the game. That and 43 was directly in his line of sight when he hit Kuznetsov. But ok. Blind and dumb

You’re not wrong in that Wilson is a presence, but unless someone was going out to do a premeditated cheap shot, I doubt the entire NHL is out there mentally reconciling where Tom Wilson is second by second of every game.

Does Cole even know Wilson is behind him to his right shoulder when he makes contact with Kuzy? If he had eyes in the back of his head he would for sure.
