Line Combos: Vanek with patch and desharnais

Lots of media about Vanek wanting to play LW, but he sure looks happy with Pleks and Desharnais. With those two wingers, it's hard to argue PDV isn't an elite top line in the NHL. Which is a hell of a coup for Desharnais. He's like the anti-Bozak in terms of his game but the effect is the same.

And our first line is showing up so far. Vanek last game played like Hossa (without the skating but MAN was he strong on the puck). I worry about massive UFA contracts, but for the next 3-5 years Vanek could be a major major asset. You'd have to sign him longer than that, but as many teams have shown, you can move pretty much anyone later in their contract. Probably not a hope, but signing him would be a good thing. Boom or bust, we'd be in the conversation for top players again.

I felt MB would make a high-profile move to put his stamp on the team sooner or later. But this Vanek move was a flat out steal. Add wever and weise and damn... well played, m. Bergeron.
