Just get Morris, and we are all set.
Also if Carter is willing to come back, bring him in.

I’m happy if you guys are happy! I looked at his career and he’s done really well for himself. Hard worker has gotten him to this point. Nobody wanted him out of college. A good story.

Go Raps!

Surprised this went down, but thrilled it did. Between Atlanta not wantingto buy people out and Lin apparently wanting to get pre-FA minutes, it seemed like the deck was stacked against Masai. But he came through.

At this point I'd like to get Vince back just for the headlines.

I want him for what he would provide on and off the court. He's not a 3pt specialist, but he's good enough to function ok in that role. And he could guard wings and rebound too. And with Ellington and Matthews off the board there's not a knockdown shooter left out there that would be a "perfect" fit. All the good vibes would just be icing.

Morris is the best case next step, but Vince would be the ideal capper.

Hard not to love this. Traded a limited backup centre for a versatile starting centre, replaced our 3 specialist who couldnt hit 3s this year in Miles (with another 9M on his deal next season) for a younger, better McLemore and replaced our backup PG who we couldnt re-sign with another back up who may be a better fit for the team.

Gasol >>>>> JV
McLemore >>>>> Miles
Wright = Lin

Lowry/Lin
Green/FVV
Kawhi/Powell
Siakam/OG
Gasol/Ibaka

So now the Raptors depth chart is

Lowry/VanVleet/Lin
Green/Powell/McLemore? (or Lloyd)
Leonard/McCaw/Miller
Siakam/Anunoby
Gasol/Ibaka/Boucher

That SF/PF setup looks weak, but it doesn't account for the fact there's a lot of fluidity between basically every position and the ones around it (the non-Gasol Cs can play down to PF in big lineups, Kawhi can play up to PF when necessary, Green and Powell can get SF minutes, every PG can play off the ball)

So they've got 1 spot left for sure, 2 if the McLemore contract doesn't materialize.

Can someone explain buyouts? A bit of detail. Advantages for teams buying out etc

And why do they need to clear waivers? What if someone claims these buyout players?

Thanks

I think the Raptors sign another PF/C so Anunoby is the #2 on the SF chart behind Leonard.

Player and team agree to a buyout (how much remaining salary the player would be willing to forfeit).

If a team claims the player on waivers, then they’re stuck with his current salary.

Really hope it's Markieff Morris that we add

Having Green and Powell at SF is useful only for specific situations (small ball lineups). You don't want them getting regular minutes at that backup spot. Also, neither Gasol or Ibaka should be playing any PF minutes. With Ibaka, it takes away his effectiveness when he's away from the rim (we also see how that affects him offensively) and Gasol doesn't have that quickness like he used to.

With all that being said, you're giving a lot of responsibility to OG, a player who has struggled all season. He's essentially the primary backup PF and SF right now.

Despite OG's stuggles, don't we want to give him floor time as much as possible still? For his development?
