I know it won't happen, but if we have 4 spots to play with on the buyout market I'd like to see:

Lin
Ellington
Carter
Markieff Morris

You get Morris a the big, Lin as the PG, the 3-point specialist in Ellington, and a versatile veteran feel-good story in Carter. Then Boucher becomes the last man on the roster

Lowry, VanVleet, Lin
Green, Powell, Ellington
Leonard, Carter, McCaw
Siakam, Anunoby, Morris
Gasol, Ibaka, Boucher

15 guys who can all conceivably play any given game depending on what the opposition calls for. and you get the flexibility to set the lineup however you want. The only thing I really don't like is that all 3 of your PGs are <6'3. The thing I miss about Wright is that you had a 6'5 guy to stick on that back end defensively. But otherwise from that you can conceivably craft a lineup to suit basically any need you have

I love this trade for the Raptors

Masai is willing to go all-in for a chance to win
Kawhi Leonard doesn't grow on trees so while you have him, you do whatever it takes to make your team a contender

My main target in the buyout market is Markieff Morris
No one else interests me

Doesnt he have a serious neck injury?

I follow the Raptors but I don't really follow the NBA in general. Is there any chance the Hawks buyout Carter and the Raps pick him up?

What about Pau Gasol? Heard he may be bought-out by San Antonio. He'd be great as a bench player going into the playoffs.

If the following players are bought out, the Raps should target them:

Lin - Another version Wright, can play in 2 PG setup and insurance at PG Position
Dedmon- Above average defensive C who rebounds better then anyone on our team and has some low post skill
Morris - If healthy would be a good second unit option behind Siakam
Ellington - For obvious reasons his 3pt ability and not being a risk defensively would be a great add for playoffs.

We have some money to play with and a few roster spots open. Masai will be active in the buyout market, and we should be one of the most attractive destinations for these guys.

Cautiously optimistic that Masai will address our needs shortly.

Playoffs Starting Lineup last year ----> new starting lineup

Jonas 24.4mpg, 0.3bpm -----> Gasol
Ibaka 26.0mpg, -2.5bpm -----> Siakam
OG 23.8mpg, 1.8bpm ----------> Kawhi
Demar 35.4mpg, -4.1bpm ---> Green
Lowry 36.1mpg, 3.9bpm ------> Lowry

seriously what an insane upgrade over last year's playoff squad. just massive. 4 flawed one-dimensional players replaced by 4 two-way beasts.

and now we have four starters that we can start offense with - who can handle the ball, score, and distribute.

That is so huge.

Green is the only one that we don't want initiating offense, but he's so good at what he does that it doesn't even matter. And of course he's the lowest minute starter and when Fred comes in for him we have 5 guys who can initiate the offense, score, and distribute.

And what makes it even better is that EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is a great defender, too.

There is no doubt that the Raps are better in every aspect as Zeke mentioned. I personally like the starting 5 and it will give fits to anyone we play.

My only concern is that we don't have a consistent second unit, or player(s) that are consistent threat with the 3.

I know in the playoffs the bench is shortened. But we still need to add there to strengthen it. Another big man that rebounds and bangs, a third PG and a shooter. If we can get those in the buyout market we will be set. Hoping for Dedmond, Lin and Ellington.

The Spurs are in the playoffs so I doubt they have any intention of buying him out
We could possibly use a 3rd center but I wouldn't say it's a pressing need

I think we need another big pretty badly, would prefer a PF to a C.

We only have three bigs - Gasol, Ibaka, Siakam. If one of them is injured, we will have to play really really small.

I don't understand the Monroe trade unless we sign a better big on the buyout market - he was valuable when JV went down.

We could definitely use a backup PF
I want us to go after Markieff Morris

Trading Monroe for cash pretty much indicates that management has someone in the buyout market in mind

Monroe was valuable in theory, but when we actually had to play him he was quite terrible.

This move saves us luxury tax dollars (Monroe was making $2.1 mil while whoever we bring in will be on a pro-rated deal of under $1 mil), while allowing us to grab a better backup big, like a Gortat/Kanter or whoever else is bought out.

How long before were able to sign a waiver player?

There are a few interesting names out there.

For bigs Morris if healthy would be a good get. Gortat could be a decent get. Need a shooter.

Shooters: Stauskas besides being from Mississauga isn't that good. Might provide some shooting. Not much else. Ellington I guess could be serviceable. Ben McLemore for all his skills just hasn't been able to figure it out. Not sure what's the scenario there but maybe he's a guy that we bring in as a project.

Do we need another PG?

Webster: Raps 'continue to be aggressive' in buyout market - TSN.ca
With the trade deadline dust finally settling, general manager Bobby Webster said Friday that the Raptors could be aggressive in the buyout market.

He said the club will look to add one or two players in the next day or so to satisfy the league mandate but could wait until after the All-Star Break to fill out the rest of the roster. TSN’s Josh Lewenberg notes Toronto has two weeks to get their roster up to 14.

“The buyout market is hot right now so we’re going to continue to be aggressive there, and then of course we’re always looking at the 905 to promote guys and give them opportunities at this level. That’s why it’s so important to choose the guys for the 905 that we think about their NBA futures as well," Webster said Friday on TSN 1050 Toronto.

Webster added the Raptors have had discussions with a few buyout options, but didn’t offer any names.

“You reach out to different agents or agents will approach you with different names and then you start to figure out okay, first up let’s see what our new roster looks like with Marc [Gasol] and those guys gone and let’s look at the holes and let’s look strategically where we might need some more shooting or more depth, that type of thing. So we have our internal board of rankings and who fits where.”
This year’s buyout market is expected to be deeper than usual. In order to be playoff eligible, players must be waived or bought out by March 1 and can sign with a new team at any point after up until the end of the regular season.

Notable players who are free agents or expected to be shortly include Carmelo Anthony, Enes Kanter, Robin Lopez, Wayne Ellington, Ben McLemore and Markieff Morris.
