As they should!

Dismantle the team at that point, we have lots of valuable veterans and expiring deals.

Lowry, Ibaka, JV, Miles.

it's funny how JV is a "vet", and Delon Wright a "kid", when they're the same age.

the best part about losing poeltl (and casey) is that JV is finally gonna get his chance to shine.

helps even more that with

OG/Siakam
Kawhi
Delon/Green

providing elite perimeter defense, JV will no longer get blamed for the defensive failings of his teammates.

How good is OG Anunoby going to be.

he'll be an elite defensive player who can sink 3s and cut to the basket at the very least. so very good.

if he can develop his handles at, he could turn into a star.....but that would take a whole lotta work.

Agreed, on paper it's definitely among the best. A couple of things to consider:

1. Kawhi has been out for a long time. How long will it take for him to regain his form?

2. If Kawhi does return to form, how long will it take for him and Lowry/supporting cast to develop chemistry as a unit?

It's very exciting to think about the possibilities, but I think expectations out of the gate should be tempered. It could take some time before we really start to reap the benefits of the trade.

I don't care about the regular season, tbh. Just be ready for the playoffs. Use the regular season to build that chemistry. I couldn't care less about how they start out of the gate. This move will get only defined by playoffs.

C Jonas (26)
PF OG (21) --- Siakam (24)
SF Kawhi (27)
SG Delon (26) -- Powell (25)
PG FVV (24)

old guys:

Lowry (32)
Green (31)
Miles (31)
Ibaka (29*) (* = probably way older than that)

Lock that young core up and we could be good for a long while.

As much as he has his flaws as a player, the way he embraced Toronto and Canada will never be forgotten. The way he stayed loyal through all the struggles and everything he's had to deal with personally. No doubt he should be given a standing o when he comes back and be honored too

Lowry is really damn good.

This is the thing that I think people forget. For all the fretting about DeRozan being "the franchise", Lowry has been:

a) the better player of the two in every year he's been on the team
b) the best player on the team, usually comfortably so, in every year he's been on the team after his very first one
c) an elite player in the league, usually in the top 10ish in multiple advanced comprehensive metrics and pretty much never lower than the top 30 from the time he became part of the Raptors.

DeRozan may have been the face of the team, but Lowry has been its beating heart and driving force.

Not that funny.

JV has 6 NBA seasons under his belt as a starter. Delon has played 3, coming off the bench.

I don’t necessarily consider Delon a kid but it’s not inconceivable one would consider JV a vet while the other not.

Delon also missed significant development time due to injuries, and he has shown improvement last year with his 3pt shot.

But Zeke's point is valid - JV is not a finished product.

well, yeah, he's been a "starter".....but never actually had the chance to play actual starting minutes, or be treated like a legit scoring option.

I assume Powell is someone we're looking to trade with the glut of SGs and SFs on our team
Since we need a 4th big, I'd look for teams who are loaded at the PF/C position and need a SG
Could very well be a swap to be made

Just realized they’re still showing that Derozan Gatorade commercial on TV.
