It was to give them an affiliate that they had control over. They could control how their prospects were developed instead of a team being shared by a rediculous amount of teams having that control.

It was a no brainer to have one regardless of Caboclo or not. He needs floor time. Which he wasn't even getting in the D-League last season due to that lack of control.

It's about having the control of development. Why wouldn't you get your own affiliate?

I don't know if Casey will ever play them any way, seems like kids are stapled to the bench.

Game Day: Raptors @ Hornets

Matt Tierney - Raptors.com

Time: (7PM ET - SN1, FAN590)

The Raptors (16-10) look to bounce back when they take on the Hornets (14-10) in Charlotte tonight at 7pm. Toronto’s winning streak was halted at four games after a loss to Indiana on Monday night. The Hornets also snapped a four-game winning streak of their own, losing to Boston on Saturday and after falling to Orlando last night, are in danger of dropping three-in-a-row today vs. The Raps.

WHO’S HOT?

Nicolas Batum – Since signing in Charlotte, the first-year Hornet has not disappointed, averaging 17 points, seven rebounds and 5 assists this season. The former Portland Trail Blazer has fit in nicely with his new team, making an impact on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Batum has lead his team in one of either points/rebounds/assists in 17 of his teams’s 24 games played this season.

DeMar DeRozan – Despite the Raptors most recent loss to Indiana, you cannot remove the Eastern Conference Player of the Week from this spot as DeRozan did all he could to try and secure a victory against the Pacers. Toronto’s All-Star shooting-guard has averaged 23 points, four rebounds and four assists over his last 10 games. On top of that, DeRozan has shot a stellar 47% from the field during that stretch and will be looking to stay hot tonight in Charlotte.

Toronto Raptors at Charlotte Hornets: Thursday game preview

Six of the Raptors’ last seven games in Charlotte have been decided by six points or less.

Raptors at Hornets

Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte

Tipoff: 7 p.m.

TV: Sportsnet One

Radio: Sportsnet 590 The FAN

Probable starters

Toronto: Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross, Luis Scola, Bismack Biyombo

Charlotte: Kemba Walker, Nik Batum, P.J. Hairston, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller

Key matchup: Kyle Lowry vs. Kemba Walker

The Charlotte point guard is one of those pesky opponents who always seems to play well against Toronto and he already has three 30-plus scoring nights this season after having five total in the two previous seasons. Lowry, however, is playing as well this season as he ever has.

Need to know: The rested Raptors catch the Hornets finishing up a back-to-back after a Wednesday game in Orlando . . . Good news/bad news for Charlotte: Al Jefferson is healthy after a calf injury but he is suspended for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy . . . Nik Batum is having an excellent first season in Charlotte, averaging 17 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists heading into Wednesday’s game . . . Close game ahead? Six of the last seven meetings between the teams in Charlotte have been decided by six points or less . . . The Raptors split road games with the Hornets last season but are 10-23 all-time in Charlotte.

Up next: Friday at Miami, 8 p.m.

Good lord, what is going on with Lin's hair? It doesn't look like hair, it looks like he killed a Crow and glued it to his head.

and poor DeMar loses that buzzer-beater 3. Too bad. Hitting a 3 is such a rare treat for him :sarcasm:

Also I'm left to wonder if Michael Jordan's master plan is to gather the biggest collection of mediocre castoff non-prospects he can to assemble into a team.

Walker, Marvin Williams, Lin, Zeller, Hansbrough, Hawes, Kidd-Gilchrist (hurt), Hairston, Lamb, even Kaminsky hasn't been great.

It's like the whole M.O. of the front office is to get a bunch of guys who either failed to live up to draft hype or had brief flourishes and then fell back to earth.

Kemba is having a breakout year so far. His overall game has been way more efficient and effective.

Refs somehow screw us again! Funny, I thought we'd suck on this road trip and I was with.

This team is like Jekyll and Hyde. No consistency, dammit.

No way we're WINNING in Miami. Their getting some sun so watch out for a blow out.

You're far too harsh on that roster.

There are a lot of young players on that roster

Zeller 23
Walker 25
Lamb 23
Kaminsky 22
Gilchrist 22
Hairston 22

Of course this evening they were missing Batum/Jefferson 2 guys who are 30 mpg players.

To say some guys have failed when the above haven't had 4 years in the pros is for a better word foolish. That same group you talk about above is right there with the Raptors. If anything you should be looking closer at why the Raptors aren't better than that group.

Game Day: Raptors @ Heat

Matt Tierney - Raptors.com

Time: (8PM ET - TSN1, TSN1050)

Toronto (16-11) completes a back-to-back tonight against Miami (15-9) at American Airlines Arena. The Raptors are coming off a tough overtime loss to Charlotte last night and will have to rebound quickly, facing a Heat team less than 24 hours later. Miami is on a three-game winning streak after defeating the Nets in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

projectedlineups-121815.jpg

WHO’S HOT?

Chris Bosh – The 31-year old seems to be back to full health and is playing like it. Bosh is averaging 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists on the year and is a big reason Miami is back near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. Since leaving Toronto after seven seasons north of the border, Bosh has transformed his game to fit the new style of play in the NBA. He has developed a consistent three-point shot and the emergence of big man Hassan Whiteside has allowed Bosh to stretch opposing defences with his ability to shoot the long ball.

Bismack Biyombo – Biyombo is giving Toronto everything they asked for and more since joining the team this past offseason. Initially brought in to help clean up a leaky defence, Biyombo has shined as a starter in the absence of Jonas Valanciunas. In his return to Charlotte, the 6’9 centre was all over the court, recording eight points, a career-high 18 rebounds as well as seven blocks.

Raptors-Miami Heat: Friday game preview

Miami is 15-9 and won three in a row after a three-game losing streak, they have put a renewed emphasis on defence and haven’t given up 100 points in five games.

AMERICAN AIRLINES ARENA

Tipoff: 8 p.m.

TV: TSN

Radio: TSN 1050

Probable starters:Toronto — Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross, Luis Scola, Bismack Biyombo. Miami — Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Chris Bosh, Hassan Whiteside.

Key matchup:Bismack Biyombo vs. Hassan Whiteside.

The Miami centre is an imposing defender — not a huge issue because the Raptors don’t run any plays for Biyombo — and he’s also a fine rebounder who the Raptors will have to be aware of on each possession. He can alter a game substantially.

Need to know: Miami is 15-9 and won three in a row after a three-game losing streak, they have put a renewed emphasis on defence and haven’t given up 100 points in five games . . . Ex-Raptor Chris Bosh is a major three-point threat now. He leads Miami with 35 threes made so far this season; he also averages about 18 points and eight rebounds a game . . . Miami has won 11 of the last 12 against the Raptors, including an easy 20-point win earlier this season . . . The game wraps up the sixth back-to-back series for the Raptors, Miami was off Thursday night.

Up next: Sunday vs. Sacramento, 6 p.m.
