You can say the U17s last year ruined it for the U17s this year. They were by far one of the better teams we've seen out of Plymouth for a few years. I think those guys who are now the U18s will be even better this year. Too much talent not to.

The U17s don't have the best 2002s, as some of them chose different routes (Stranges to the OHL, a few others tendered by USHL teams). The U17 defense is serviceable at best, hoping some of the better forwards (Similac being one of them) will keep them in it. My prediction is they will be under .500 for the season.

Prediction for the U18s.....playoffs for sure.

It doesn't work that way. Team USA's USHL record is a combination of the records of the U18 and U17 teams in their games versus USHL opponents only (international and NCAA games do not count). The U18's always play in the U18 IIHF World Championships in the spring. If Team USA qualifies for the USHL playoffs, it would be the U17 squad that represents the program there.

Since relocating to Plymouth, last season was the only time the program qualified for the USHL playoffs, and it was either the 2nd or 3rd time overall since the program joined the USHL. Basically, for the program to qualify for the USHL playoffs, the U17 team needs to be exceptional, since they play more USHL games than the U18 team. So, the chances are not good of a repeat playoff appearance this season.

Luke Tuch is Mr. clutch for this team in the very early going. Scored to tying goal vs Wilkes Barre and sent a laser over the shoulder of the goalie to win in OT. Kleven has been great at keeping the puck in and being steady. Smiles ice is so fast at coming in over the blue line, he must have torched defenders in midget. Sanderson is quietly a good player on D. Pretty smooth. Jacob Truscott has really shown why he made this team. Didn’t have a good first game but has been really good since.
