The Force did look a little sloppy this weekend. I think they will look smoother when they have all true lines. The Lincoln Stars look good. They have a strong forecheck.

Its hard to say. They will cut 3 D and 6 F. I think it will come down to how they play this Thursday and Friday. I really don't want to say who I think will be cut. But I think Elms, Jago and Gray my be with the team. It just odd that they only have two goalies and no one to look to if they don't do so hot. Most teams have at least 3 goalies in pre season. I just can't wait for Monday the 16th to see the 23 man roster.

Well the Force gets another Pre Season win over Des Moines. Nice to see Christian Cakebread with a hat trick. I hope he makes the team.

Well pre season is done. I can't wait to see who makes the team. I kinda feel bad for the 8 players that will get the news on the bus. I bet it will make for a long bus ride home.

Season home opener is the 20th.

A tough loss to the Lancers. Just wondering whats going to be handed out to Michael Babcock for the checking from behind he was assessed a 5 min major, a 10 min major and game misconduct.

There was no injury on the play. It was just stupid on his part: it wasn't a malicious hit. I don't know how ushl discipline works but I wouldn't expect a lengthy suspension from it.

Boy that cakebread kid is annoying.

Why is Cakebread annoying? Just curious. I know nothing about him except he verbally has chosen UND.

He's annoying because I had an ostensible rooting interest in Omaha. I suspect a Fargo fan will love him. Cakebread is very much Sean Avery - slashes and shoves with every contact, chirping, taunting after he draws a retaliation call.

I didn't know what to expect from a ushl crowd. They were pretty forgiving. An nhl crowd would have been screaming for the kid's blood though.

Cakebreed was good at the first home game. I didn't see him play like Avery at all. He looks more like a goal score then a thug like Avery. Everyone in the league chirps and also pushes and shoves after whistles its a part of the game now.

You have to be a complete azz to be compared to Avery. I will be watching him on nov 2 in Fargo when they play Chicago Steel. I don't know to many hockey players who don't talk smack and do a little extra after a whistle. I'd say there are more that do that don't.

The Avery reference is purely a reference to playstyle, leave all the other baggage out of it. Avery - back when he was effective - was not a thug, he was a pest. If you prefer (and if you're old enough to remember) I'll say Theo Fleury.

And that's what this kid is. I'm not talking about after the whistle, I'm talking about during play. He is constantly using his stick, at ankles, at wrists, not enough to draw a call, but enough to annoy the crap out of the player he's facing. He threw a sneaky punch once and was called, and spent the whole trip to the box mocking the guy he punched for throwing his head back. He never shut up.

He is also very clearly a skilled player.

It's noticeably a part of his game, as in, it stands out above just your average between-whistle stuff. Also bear in mind, this is the only time I've ever seen him, but by the end of the game, I was looking for him. But he was also one of Fargo's more effective players on a bad night for them. He's got good speed and anticipation, and he's a great forechecker. His shot looked pretty dangerous - its quickness more than its placement.

Thanks DS. So he is an agitator with skill. I have no problem with that.

I get what your saying. I like the Fleury reference (I don't care for Avery and see him as a thug now but was good at one point). I think every team has a player like that for them. I have noticed a lot of players play different on the road. When I saw Sioux City here there were two players that just were annoying but when I watched them play someone else they were different. I like some guys who get under your skin sometimes. I for see him being on of our top goal scores.

Yeah. And Fargo was down early. Being 16 he may not have handled it well. I'll try to get an eyeball on him in one of his next trips to Omaha.
