USHL Attendence figures...what gives?

Here is the latest USHL attendence figures.

It shows Dubuque averaging 1,980 fans YET their total attendence is only 17,817 for 10 games coming to an avg. of 1,782.

Same goes for Cedar Rapids - reported attendence 15,856 for 0 games an avg. of 1,586 per game YET it states their average as 1,762.

Other teams have their average overstated as well. Is there something I am missing?

Could be a couple of things. Maybe it's paid attendance for the average but they count comped tickets in the total. Or it's the turnstile count vs. tickets paid for, Panthers do that since the announced attendance for the less attended games is ~10,000 tickets sold even though a conservative turnstile count is rumored to be ~5,000.

Strong possibility they're just flat out inflating the numbers. Wouldn't be the first time a league has done it and it won't be the last. No one is going to notice the difference between 1,600 and 1,800 people in a game and every little bit helps the organization's image.

Maybe there's something wrong with their system and that's why the numbers are off.

Could be that they're not counting the games played as the "home" team at the USHL Fall Classic as it would skew the average. Each team played a pair of regular season games there to start the season, one home and one away.

Either not properly updating all the data or, er, somebody isn't all attention to detail over there.

Usually, a neutral site game is assigned to someone's attendance number. What happened here? Eh.

If you check the individual Game Sheets from the USHL for the Fall Classic games, they list the attendance as "-" so effectively 0. So it seems they're exempting them from the average.
