I figured I'd start a thread for US Open. The draw is out. It will be an interesting tournament given some withdrawals from men's side (Rafa, Wawrinka the two notable ones) but more so in the women's game.

Who's your pick to win for both?

The bottom of that women’s draw is so insanely hard compared to the top. If Serena pulls this off coming out of that bracket I will be impressed. I think the no crowd factor makes a difference here. I am going with Swiatek winning the women’s and Berretinni the men’s. I wouldn’t be going with those two under ordinary circumstances and also let’s not forget many top players not there. Schwartzman is another one to watch on men’s side. This is a field he can pull it off I think if he avoids Djokovic

I don't think that Djokovic is anything like a lock in the US Open and I don't think Nadal is anything like a lock in the French. So my first prediction is that someone else other than the expected winner prevails in each tournament, though in the case of the French, that someone else may well be Nole. Nobody is match tough yet, so anything could happen.

Though he had a tough loss to Bautista-Agut the other day, I'm kind of leaning to Medvedev who has a very good draw. Other possibilities: Thiem, Tsitsipas, Raonic, Dimitrov

On the women's side, I'll take Kenin. Other possibilities: Osaka, Pliskova, Serena

With my record, though, everyone I listed will probably get knocked out in the first two rounds.

I'd be very surprised if Djokovic didn't win, but this is the opportunity for one of the younger generation to finally win one. If they can't win when a number of the older players aren't participating, when are they going to win one? Will they all have to be retired to win one?

Paire somehow tested positive for COVID and is out. I doubt anyone who played vs him has to worry but it sounds like they think Medvedev might be done in this tourney. He was supposedly in close contact with Paire on multiple occasions at the hotel playing video games

They should have played together online.

Even worse I guess they’re saying Paire was sick with something last week but had three negative tests. They’d better hope that was really something else

I'm taking the field aswell against Djokovic.

Wouldn't shock me to see a first time winner on both sides.

The lack of crowds is probably going to respectively help and hurt some players. I find it funny Kyrgios decides not to play this tourney. He’s the exact sort of guy you’d think would possibly win in this setup

Zverev and Anderson a set apiece. Tough first round match up, will be interesting to see if Zverev holds his nerve. Of course, Anderson used to be the king of chokers, so who knows with this one?

Sascha wins in four sets and looks damn good doing it. Anderson post-op mobility problems are evident.

Apparently he wasn't the only one. From twitter: Following Benoît Paire’s positive Covid-19 test, Frenchmen Gasquet, Barrere, Roger-Vasselin, Mannarino and Copin (coach) have been ordered to stay in their rooms until further notice.

I only bet on sports a handful of times a year but I am tempted to bet on Korpatsch against Bellis. I can’t see why Korpatsch is such a huge underdog in that match.

Didnt bet it but what a great match that was. 15-13 tiebreak in first set. Korpatsch seems to have potential but she has trouble harnessing the aggression and power it seems. Runs hot and cold for multiple games at a time

In what looks to me like the most interesting match of the day, Sinner takes the first set off Khachanov, 6-3.

Andy down two sets to love against Nishioka, who is playing his usual consistent game--it's the only thing he's got really. But Murray hasn't been able to keep up so far.

Easy first set for Felix, 6-3, against Monteiro, a clay court specialist who has never won a match at the US Open.
