US House of Representatives passes bill to decriminalize Marijuana

Its just a symbolic measure there is no chance it will pass the Senate. There is talk that Biden could reclassify marijuana so its a much lower class of drug and thus the federal 'punishment' is less severe. This would allow researchers to not have to worry about going to federal prison and could lead to legitimate studies on the benefits of marijuana.
They are all just make shift measures because its going to remain illegal under federal law for the foreseeable future. In order for the law to change there will have to be 60 senators that support changing it. That doesnt seem likely until many of the older generation senators are replaced by younger generations.
