Kinda wanted to see Urho

We have plenty of time to see Urho. From a seniority standpoint I think you give Gryz the first crack at it (assuming hes healthy). I wouldnt be surprised if they told Urho to stick around Boston for a couple days to see how Wed/Thurs go but I don't think sending him down to play presumably top pairing minutes is the worst thing in the world.

Agree with you 100%, its absolutely not a bad thing. Fully healthy w/ Krug back, I expect Urho to be the odd man out...unless of course he's head and shoulders one of your top 2-3 d-men.

agreed, any way you cut it, sure appears like this kid has the tools to be a full time NHL player, if that happens now, great, if not, no panic and no need to push a kid too soon if there are other viable options that still allows a prospect to develop and not get potentially overwhelmed.

Really liked the games I watched him play in but also aware the real thing starts tonight, different game

I'd agree with this. Gryz gave us every reason at the end of the season to expect him in the lineup come the start of the season.

Charlie McAvoy immediately became a top 2/3 d man on the team when he came to the NHL. Urho isn't that yet, so no need to rush him like that.

Let him play in all situations in Providence and see what happens. We don't really need him now.

Well that wouldn't be "right now" would it?

Even without Krug we have Chara/Moore/Gryz on the left side. If one of them completely implodes then we can cross that bridge when we get to it.

Vak looks like a brodin type which I'm thrilled. I'm very worried about zboril and senyshyn and now JFK is giving me butterflies. They aren't developing.

Cassidy praised Zboril at the beginning of camp. He added mass and looked more comfortable on the ice. Its just a numbers game now. You can bet Donny won't be adding another "Moore" next season ... Zboril or Axelsson or both sb in the lineup via next season

Senyshyn worries me but at least in this pre season he scored a few goals. Like Zboril he just needs to get comfortable and also work on his initial acceleration. Big season down at Providence. Needs to pop in at least 20 + goals

I have zero expectations for JFK. I'm not seeing the endurance/stamina out of him to be able to play at the nhl level.

Pretty happy this didn't turn out to be his career first game.

Anyone know if he has any face-off experience?

Actually, Urho has 100% all-time win rate in face-offs from Liiga. (1 faceoff from season 16-17)

Perfect! Screw the small sample size! Let's give him a shot!

Why not send him down to Providence if he’s not going to play? They still have Kampfer as an extra D, give Vaakanainen big minutes in Providence. Maybe they plan to give him a game soon?

I think given Urho's (perceived) NHL readiness it makes sense to let Lauzon/Zboril get more ice time in Providence.

I don't know if they'll end up sending him down (I think they should), but Providence's season doesn't start until tomorrow so to this point it's not like he's missing any playing time

As a Finn it really sucks to see him sent down. I understand the reasons and I am fine with it, but still I'm quite pissed. Oh well, I hope his time will be soon.

Good to get some playing time.

Glad he got to see how it is, even though he did not play. He was never going stay when Krug comes back anyways. He did not make the lineup, he was just up in case. Kampfer can be the extra guy. If it gets worse with injuries, then I do not mind seeing the kid get a chance, he looks good.

I would have liked for him to at least get a taste of what an NHL caliber game is like. It was nice for him to see what life is like at the NHL level between travel, practice and game prep, but I think getting some actual TOI would have been even better.
