It is time for the General Managers of the HFNHL to complete their sworn duty to vote for the starters of the 2021 HFNHL All Star Game.

We are doing voting through google forms again this year.

2021 HFNHL All Star Game Voting

Remember the following Rules:

RULES:
1. You can't vote for anyone within your own organization.
2. Most votes per position wins.
3. $500,000 for players voted in at their position as listed above.
4. Voting is mandatory. Those GMs who do not submit a vote will have their name submitted to the Admin team for disciplinary action. They will also void their team from receiving any cash earned through All-Star selections.
5. The winning GMs will fill out the rest of the roster with their selections once the starters are named.
6. You can write in votes by adding another voting option to the poll.

Votes are due by Saturday, March 6.

Please use this thread to hype your own candidates.

Florida Panthers Candidates

The team is struggling right now (following the acquisitions of Ryan Suter and Marc Andre Fleury...gotta love the SIM). However, we do have some players deserving of votes.

Ryan Ellis - Defense

Top 10 in the HFNHL in assists this year. Top 5 among defenders. He has been an absolute rock for the Panthers this year, playing in all situations and deserves to be one of the Eastern Conference's representatives.

Cale Makar - Defense
One of the leading candidates for the Calder Trophy this year, Makar is nearly among the league defensive scoring leaders and is right behind Filip Hronek in rookie scoring. As a voted starter, he is probably suspect. But he deserves to be a member of the final team.

Nikita Kucherov - Forward
Where would we be without Kuch? He continues to put up points. Although his production thus far hasn't quite been on par with last year's, he is still one of the higher scoring wings in the Eastern Conference and is the unquestionable offensive leader of the Panthers.

After trading some big names the Devils have been playing some great hockey, largely in part to the following players deserving of an all-star spot!

Brock Nelson - He's spent a lot of the year in first or second for league scoring, and has been a rock playing in all game situations. If you can't pick a guy near the top in scoring as an all-star, even as unlikely as Brock's season has been, I'm not sure what to say. He's also 6'5" tall and Enzo Amore says you can't teach that!

Blake Wheeler - Blake joined Nelson on the giants line shortly after GM Young took over in Jersey and has been the peanut butter to Brock's jelly on the right side! Wheeler has been a great leader on the team and his play really drives the team to excellence on a nightly basis.

Zach Parise - Like the clown you thought was dead in Billy Madison, Parise has had a resurgence in his return to the Devils' organization. He joined Wheeler and Nelson on the top line and has also taken off since his acquisition this year. A lot of people didn't understand why Young wanted Parise at this stage in his career but the former US Olympian has been dynamite as a Devil.

Ben Bishop - Bishop has 20 wins on the season and a .918 save percentage. After GM Young shuffled the deck a bit to lower payroll the team dropped four in a row but since then the Devils have been one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. While Bishop's save percentage and GAA are average in today's NHL, the reality is one just needs to look at the six defensemen in front of him on a nightly basis. They are not exactly the 1995 Devils or anything resembling them but Bishop is the backbone that keeps the team out of trouble.

Jon Cooper - What other coach has had some of his better players dealt, a few guys signed out of free agency that couldn't find a deal, and still has his team at the top of one of the divisions. Cooper has had to do all of this while working with a new General Manager and balancing a thin roster when it comes to the bottom six in his forward group. This season has shown just how talented Cooper is at handling a team and maximizing the ability of everyone on the roster.

From the Flames:

The team has gone from 3 years of no playoff hockey to having the 2nd best win % in the league

Thanks to:

Tuuka Rask: Simply the best goalie in the league this season, bar none.

Dylan Larkin;
The Flames have scoring from three lines - so no one player is dominating the scoring charts. But Larkin leads the Flames in assists and points, playing on the top line.

Mark Giordano:
The captain leads the stingiest defense in the league.

Geoff Ward: The coach has to be considered as the Flames are the most improved team in the league

The Kings have two players that I'll nominate, in a year where it's more been scoring by committee:

Mark Scheifele - 35 points in 36 games leads LA in scoring.

Jaccob Slavin - 23 points in 36 games while being one of the very best defensive defensemen in the game, he's the type where it's nice to see them get their due even when others may put up more points.

Honerable mention would be Sean Couturier with 30 points in 36 games while providing an excellent two-way game.

Washington Capitals

Connor Hellebuyck - Hellebuyck is behind only Rask for save percentage this season with a .932 to go with 4 shutouts. The catalyst behind the recent 11-3-0 run that has vaulted the Capitals from lottery pick range all the way up the board to 2nd in their division. Hellebuyck has been especially potent down a man as he is the most important penalty killer on a kill that ranks 3rd in the league.

Charlie McAvoy - This season has been a revelation for McAvoy, who is a huge part of the aforementioned penalty kill that ranks 3rd in the league as well as the powerplay that ranks 5th in the league. McAvoy plays first unit on both. 4 powerplay goals and 9 powerplay assists, it's hard to imagine the team without McAvoy and Heiskanen running the show. Despite some star power up front, McAvoy is likely team MVP at this point for his all around game. 23 points in 36 games. Ranks 4th among defense with 116 hits and has blocked 50 shots. McAvoy is mirroring his NHL counterpart in being a darkhorse candidate for some postseason hardware.

Auston Matthews - The first dozen games for Matthews were incredibly slow and the team seemed to match his slump. Lately, Matthews has seen his numeric production improve and his paltry shooting percentage start to fall in line with his immense talent. +10 on a team that isn't much better than that in differential, Matthews has been productive and responsible.

There's not much happening on the Leafs this season but John Carlson is 10th in the NHL in assists (all positions) and 10th in points (defensemen), while landing 7th in blocked shots and 1st in time on ice.

For your consideration...

Seth Jones (D) - Our do everything D has put up 37 points in 35 games, good for 2nd best for the position. He's playing over 24 minutes a game and has been a force on the PP with 6 goals already this season, tied for 3rd in the league.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (G) - After struggling with conditioning early in the season, Vasilevskiy has settled in and played the majority of the teams games. He ranks 7th in save %, 8th in GAA, 3rd in minutes played, 5th in shots faced and t-4th in wins.

Jack Eichel (C) - Cooled off after a torrid start but still ranks in the top 10 for both goals (17) and assists (27), good for 4th overall in scoring.

The HFNHL Senators would like to pump the tires of....

Drew Doughty

A resurgence of offensive numbers and a steadier defense game have DD looking closer to his Norris form days.

Tomas Hertl

Scores goals, sets up teammates, wins faceoffs and plays an all around 200' game

James Reimer

A welcomed addition to the Senators net. The veteran has been a steady and reliable influence in net and has helped mentor Chris Driedger.

VICTOR HEDMAN is second in the East among defensemen in scoring per game, his 22 points in 25 games (0.880 ppg) trails only Tampa's Seth Jones (37 in 35).

Despite missing 13 games, Hedman is already tied for third on the Jackets in both points and goals. His -3 plus/minus (in front of AHL-level goaltending) is best among Jackets blue liners as well.

Honourable mention to Head Coach Todd McLellan, who has the Jackets on a 9-5-1 tear after going 4-13-6 under DJ Smith to start the season.
