It's been a year and a half since we updated this!

Graduated:
Trevor Zegras
Moritz Seider
Martin Fehervary

1. Cutter Gauthier (New)
The team's 9th overall selection in the recent HFNHL draft, Gauthier looks like a sure bet to be an NHL player thanks to his size, skating, and overall well rounded profile. Would be nice if he turned into a center prospect, but we like him regardless. Should move relatively quickly through the system.

2. Nick Robertson (5)
Robertson is probably higher on this list than others might have him (in terms of ranking my prospects), but I still have belief that he can be a quality top six forward. He just needs to stay healthy. This upcoming year is a huge one for him to break into the NHL Leafs' roster for good.

3. Lukas Reichel (8)

Reichel had a tremendous rookie season in the AHL and has emerged as a top end prospect, matching his NHL draft position. He looks like a strong bet to be a top six forward and should get all the ice time and responsibility that he can handle on a rebuilding Blackhawks team this season.

4. JJ Peterka (9)

All Hail the Germans! Peterka also had a remarkable first year in the AHL and has proven thus far that he should have been drafted higher. He has a great shot of making the Buffalo Sabres roster in a middle six role this upcoming season.

5. Olen Zellweger (New)
A high selection by the Panthers this year, Zellweger was remarkable in the WHL this season and has emerged as one of the best defenders in the entire CHL. His offensive potential is insanely high.

6. Jack Rathbone (11)
Rathbone turned pro and was tremendous at the AHL level. This leads many to believe that he has the inside track on an NHL position this year. Like Zellweger, his offensive potential as an NHL defender is very high.

7. Brock Faber (New)

Acquired recently in exchange for Robby Fabbri, Faber also changed hands in the NHL, moving to the Minnesota Wild in the Kevin Fiala deal. He's not flashy, but his strong two-way acumen and skating ability makes him a pretty sure bet to be an NHL player in some capacity. When he signs and leaves college remains to be seen.

8. Devon Levi (17)
The reigning Mike Richter Award winner as the top goaltender in the NCAA, Levi was robbed of the Hobey Baker. There isn't much more that he can prove at the NCAA level, yet he is returning for another year. He is undersized, but he has dominated at every level he's played at, slowly becoming one of the top goalie prospects on the planet.

9. Cayden Primeau (12)
It seems like Primeau has been a Panthers prospect forever. But it points to how long goalies take to develop. Primeau is coming off of a tremendous AHL playoffs and looks NHL ready finally. He is the reason the Habs are looking to move Jake Allen.

10. Wade Allison (HM)
The bad luck that this guy has is remarkable. When he has played in the NHL he has been terrific. But he keeps suffering unlucky injuries, from broken bones from blocking shots, to deep lacerations from skate blades. He can't catch a break. This has to be his year to finally be a full time NHL player with the Flyers right?

11. Tristen Robins (HM)
Another guy that is likely placed higher than others might have him on my list, but I'm a big fan of his. Really excited to see how he performs in his first pro season coming up.

12. Riley Damiani (HM)
His sophomore AHL campaign didn't go quite as well as his freshman, but he's still very highly regarded in the Dallas Stars system. As he continues to build strength and confidence, he has a great shot of becoming an NHL player in some capacity.

13. Josh Doan (HM)
Shane's son was one of the NCAA's top freshman this year at Arizona State, solidifying his high draft selection in the NHL. He is definitely starting to look like a future middle six NHL player.

14. Tyler Madden (7)

John's son has had a rough transition to the pro level so far after dominating the NCAA. He has had problems with injuries and consistency. But it's too early to give up on him given his immense talent. He falls on this list, but I have high hopes that he can rebound this year.

15. Joey Keane (18)
Another guy who has been a Florida prospect for what seems like ages. He has been a standout at the AHL level but has yet to take that next step to become an NHL player. After capturing an AHL championship as a number one defender at that level, it seems like Keane has the inside track at a third pairing role with the Hurricanes locked up next season.

16. Jack McBain (HM)
A breakout campaign at the NCAA level has brought McBain's prospect status back to life. Better yet, after signing with Arizona in the NHL, McBain was very solid to close out last year. He should be a full time NHL player next season and looks like a quality third line player for the future.

17. Michael Dipietro (13)
Things haven't been to kind to Dipietro at the pro level thus far. A lot of that can be blamed on Vancouver IMO. They left him to rot on the bench without any playing time for an entire year because they didn't want to bring in a better COVID reserve list goalie. They also threw him to the wolves in his NHL debut when he wasn't ready as an emergency player. Great way to develop a potential goalie of the future. I still have faith he can turn things around and I think he'll have a strong year this season in the AHL.

18. Nikita Alexandrov (HM)
A strong two-way player in the STL Blues organization, Alexandrov had an up and down first season in the AHL, but performed well in the AHL playoffs hopefully setting up a strong sophomore campaign. He is probably close to being a quality bottom six NHL player.

19. Elliot Desnoyers (HM)
A breakout star in the QMJHL, Desnoyers also looks like a strong bet to "remake" the Canadian WJC team this August. He plays a high energy game and should be an NHL player in some capacity.

20. Julian Lutz (New)

A recent draft pick of the Panthers, Lutz takes the final spot in the top 20 based on his potential as a strong skating, goal scoring winger. Here's hoping that the NHL's Coyotes assign him to the OHL next year!
