Don't say anything at all
To limit travel from city to city, a temporary realignment and schedule format should be in place:

The 30 teams would be divided into 5 6-team conferences as follows:

Boston, Brooklyn, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto (playing in Buffalo), Washington
Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana, Milwaukee, Minnesota
Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando
Dallas, Denver, Houston, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Utah
Golden State, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento

All 72 games for each team would be played within their conference (2 * 15 + 3 * 14 = 72).

Five first place teams and 11 best runners up qualify for a 16-team playoff seeded by record. To reduce travel, all series would be 2-3-2 for home court format just for this season only (though it should be a permanent change).

No, it's not.

2018-19 revenue was $8.76 billion. Players get about half of that, so $4.38bn.

A loss of $1.6bn would cut player salaries by 36.5%.
Well they wouldnt even be playing 1/3 of the normal amount of games so that seems fair.

edit - math correction

Look at previous posts I made, NBAPA already approved the 72 game season starting on Dec 22

Numerous players pushing for January.

It’s not approved, players reps approved, still not voted on by full player membership and league.
Just look up a couple of posts, a proposed agreement.
So ya we still don’t know start date.

Yep basically a wait and see like I said, until it’s approved. NHL has a tentative start date ,again, doesn’t mean it happens, it could.

Ya they can try, but not happening now GTA is at its worst for cases, and the States is at its worst.

Tampa emerging as a frontrunner for a temporary Raptors home:

(I wonder, if this pans out, would the NBA have the Raptors and Wizards temporarily swap divisions for travel/geography purposes?)
