Ummmmmmm they aren't nice numbers in the WHL.

For a player that was playing in europe the year b4 its not bad. And its his first year in the NA.

They still aren't good numbers no matter how you shape it. The guy is 19/20 putting up medicore numbers in the WHL. If I recall right he didn't make the sweden under 20 team.....how do you expect him to make the under 23 team.

I don't think McConnell or Steckel have a shot at making the team. I would definitely take Hennessy, Jessiman, Stafford, and Wheeler before considering them.

And as much as I love Wisniewski, I think I'd take Welch over him as well. Wisniewski will be a solid player, but I think Welch is much more of an impact player with higher upside.

My lines would look something like this...

O'Sullivan --- Parise --- Brown
Higgins --- Schremp --- Umberger
Kesler --- Fritsche --- Stafford
Eaves --- Slater --- Jessiman

Extras: Hennessy, Wheeler

Whitney - Komisarek
Suter - Stuart
Ballard - Gleason

Extras: Thelen, Welch

Montoya
Howard

Extra: Bacashihua

I don't think O'Sullivan's ever played left wing, but there's a lot of centers and very few capable wingers. I think one of the top three centers (O'Sullivan, Parise, Schremp) would have to play wing, and I think O'Sullivan is the most logical choice.

Where is Dan Blackburn?? Blackburn was a first round pick and yes he has been injured but he played in 63 games in the NHL and when Richter went down played in 19 straight games before Dunham came to the Rangers. Blackburn was carrying the Rangers at one point. Emery is a 4th round pick and only played 6 games in the NHL and on a better defensive team in the Sens.

if this was 83's and down he would be on this team for sure...
Lupul has more upside than Stajan, and after remembering he spent the majority of the season in the NHL, I take it back... he would be ahead of Matt.

Upshall has a similar game, but I don't think he's as good as Stajan right now. That's why Stajan is in the NHL and Upshall is not. Considering the tournament would be held "this month", Stajan would be ahead of Upshall and possibly Roy and/or Stoll.

All 3 are two-way forwards, Stoll and Stajan being more similar than any of the other two. Roy was good with Buffalo, but Stajan had a better season. Same goes with Stoll, except that Stoll's a year and a half older.

If it's "this month", I'm sure Stajan's ahead of Upshall, Roy, and Stoll.

That is an excellent looking team. Well balanced at all positions with a ton of fire power. Nicely done!

just two thoughts on Team Russia

Smirnov should probably not be there. He's at a cross-roads and saw time both as a F and a D in Cincy last year. He still hasn't shown enough to be considered. Russia's depth isn't that bad.

Vladimir Korsunov ('83) is a possibility for the Russian blueline however. He doesn't have a lot of offensive upside, but is a solid punishing stay-at-home blueliner.

I'd have Rick #1 too, but he's an 81 and will be 23 in Sept. He's too old according to the guidelines ktownhockey layed out.

Dipietro is too old. 1982 born or later only.

What does draft position have to do with anything? Blackburn hasn't played in over a year, and shouldn't get consideration over guys like Fleury, Emery, Leclaire, Dubnyk, Chiodo, Deslauriers, etc.

Why, because he is a Leaf? Maybe ahead of Roy but definitely not ahead of the other 3. Leaf fans :shakehead

No, because it's a fact.

Roy - Stajan had a better season than Derek Roy in the NHL... and he played himself onto the NHL roster out of training camp. Forcing the manager to let a veteran go (Travis Green). He didn't rely on injuries to play in the league.

Upshall - Stajan spent the season in the NHL... on one of the top teams in the East while Scottie Upshall spent it in the minors. Considering this tournament would take place "this month", Stajan is clearly ahead of Upshall in development.

Stoll - Stajan and Stoll are similar in style, but the only tie-breaker is that Stajan had a better season at a younger age.

I really hope Robbie Earl plays his way onto team USA in December.

He looks like a fun player to watch... and I'd like to watch him.

I would take Doug Lynch and Aaron Johnson over Phaneuf and Coburn. The guys already are AHL all-stars and Johnson has 29 decent NHL games under his belt, while Phaneuh and Coburn still have to play their first pro game.

Phaneuf and Lynch will probably start in the NHL at the same time. Phaneuf is very ready to play in the NHL. He almost made the Calgary Flames out of camp.

I don't think Earl would make it, to be honest.

It's not necessarily the best possible team, however I think it's a team with balanced lines, and a good combination of different players.

I'd like to see who you'd ice, Rabid. If you have the time to put one together.

Phaneuf is more talented, but Lynch is more mature and experienced. I've never seen Phaneuf in pro-hockey though...

I'm curious as to what Finland's roster would look like...
Something like this:
Ruutu-M.Koivu-Tukonen
Bergenheim-Niinimaki-Korpikoski
Marjamaki-Nokelainen-Pihlman
Antilla-Seitsonen-Petrell

Defence:
Pitkanen-Lepisto. Period.

Goalies:
Lehtonen
Toivonen
Lassila

I actually think that this team doesn't look THAT bad. The first line could very well be playing in the national team soon and I like the potential on the second line :) Nice to see that you put Tim Eriksson in there, Mini-Nylander himself :yo:
