It's worth keeping eye on Kirill Bondarenko who is on youth ranks of Traktor and made his U18 NT debut last spring as a sixteen year old. His stats on a very good Traktor team aren't that impressive, but at very least it's still nice to see that he has committed to Ukraine nice and early.

Then there's also Olexander Polyanychka, who, at least according to his parents, is eligible to play for Ukraine. If I remember it correctly he also was between U18 candidates last spring (though with a wrongly listed first name), but was cut before tournament.

Not bad numbers for a rookie. Hopefully he can finish the season around 40 points. He's a good prospect and will likely play in the KHL one day, unless he goes to the ECHL/AHL upon CHL graduation.

Unfortunately doesn't look like Donbass-98 kids are as good as they were touted. While being the best in Ukraine, they are being humbled week in week out in Moscow championship. You know you are in trouble when your best player is underage kid from Moldova

You kinda answered your own question, no? But technically it doesn't bind him to Russian programme just yet, but so wouldn't even a full IIHF tournament.

Yeah Toryanik seems to be the best Ukrainian prospect out there. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the KHL next season.

Padakin was 4th on the Hitmen for goals, I'll take that as a small victory. Maybe he develops further and turns into a decent player in Europe? Or wind up like Kvitchenko...

What has Kvitchenko done wrong in your eyes? To me he still looks superiour to Padakin by a fair margin. This was Kvitchenko's first pro season, hard to expect him being a real player on KHL stage anyway. if Voskresensk would revive their VHL team, he would be a top6 contributor for them easily.

Mmm not from the 4th line. This year Donbass looks stacked again up front so the chance of him seeing pp time or even time on the 3rd line seems unlikely. I would project around 5 points for him unless he can battle his way up the depth chart and/or if injuries happen.

What has Kvitchenko done wrong in your eyes? To me he still looks superiour to Padakin by a fair margin. This was Kvitchenko's first pro season, hard to expect him being a real player on KHL stage anyway. if Voskresensk would revive their VHL team, he would be a top6 contributor for them easily.

I like what I've seen from Kvitchenko in the few games I saw him play during the NHL lockout. I think with increased ice time he could eventually become a solid 3rd line contributor in the KHL. Players from weaker countries tend to develop at a slower pace. I think he'll hit his stride.

I think it's not wise to make such generalizations about the strength of leagues. Not only leagues need a bit different skillset to succeed in them, but also because KHL is league of great extremes - one team's leader is mere scrub on another roster.

Anyway Kvitchenko could of used full season of a lesser pro league than KHL. Two shifts per period (in every second game) is no good for a player who kinda projects as top six player (not necessarily a KHL top six player) in future.

That's true, but it probably wouldn't do him any good to play in the PHL. I think he'd be best suited for first line duty in the VHL, but Donbass doesn't have an affiliate.

Petrangovsky scored more than any junior player in the PHL and played in the WC with the men's National Team as an 18 year old. He seems to have pretty good upside.
