I look forward to Big John’s analysis, pretty sure he himself says moving forward doesn’t count for much and he invented the rules…

Scorecards all over the place but they unanimously gave TJ rounds 1 and 3.

Bottom line is I give a ton of credit to TJ and Sandhagen made a lot of bad decisions. TJ fought with no right eye and a suspect leg for the majority of the fight.

Octagon control and aggressiveness are essentially tiebreakers if striking/grappling are even.

That's it.

he definitely won those 2 rounds

I agree that sandhagen made tons of bad decisions and TJ showed a ton of heart. I just dont think TJ won 3 rounds

They will run it back. T.J. 100% gets the next title shot though.

So the judges were actually all in agreement on rounds 1-3. Round 1 - TJ, round 2 - Sandhagen, round 3- TJ.

Cleary and D'Amato gave Corey round 4.

Kamijo and Cleary gave Corey round 5.

Shelby told Sandhagen he's still one fight away from the title.

Sandhagen should be cheering for TJ to get the belt after Yan vs. Aljo 2 because it would be very easy to remake this fight for the belt if Sandhagen beats literally anyone in the interim.

I think it's telling that all the judges had different scores. I had it for TJ but if they had given it to Sandhagan I wouldn't have been shocked or upset. The 'correct score' isn't as clear cut for this one, unlike Maverick-Barber where two judges clearly got it wrong.

Dillashaw won 1 and 3 IMO. If you are going to give him another round it has to be round 4, not round 5.

I'd have to watch again but I thought 4 was more in favor of Cory than round 5 was. Both very competitive. I wouldn't even argue Sandhagen winning both 4 and 5, but I thought 5 was a better round for TJ than 4. Such a close fight I'd have to re-watch though.

I don't see how you can give TJ the last round.

I thought Cory clearly won round 4, and if the 3rd judge agreed with the 1st 2, then Cory wins the fight.

Regardless, I outside the first round I really don't think TJ did any head damage. A lot of leg kicks and a lot of back hugging. Kind of reminds me of the Holloway/Volkanovski fights.

I know this isn't how it works but.... 3/3 thought Cory won round 2, 2/3 judges thought Cory won round 4 and 2/3 Judges thought Cory won round 5... in my mind, by majority scoring, the Judges agree that Cory won 3 rounds... obviously scoring doesn't work like that but it would be interesting if it did.

I actually thought Maycee won the 2nd and 3rd rounds against Maverick. Aside from getting her back briefly at the very end of the round I thought Barber was well ahead. I was very surprised when they said that Maverick landed more strikes that round.

TJ vs Sandhagen was a very close fight and I thought Sandhagen was going to get it. I dunno if anyone in this group beats Yan though.

It really wasn’t defensible but the judging was off all night IMO. It was good to have so many finishes

Rounds 1/2/3/5 were all very clear to me. Round 4 I am fine either way, though I went TJ.

that’s pretty much exactly where I’m at, and I had 4 going to sandhagen

It certainly isn’t a robbery, but Idk how anybody could watch that 5th round and give it to dillashaw just because he’s moving forward

People don't understand the scoring system...but that doesn't excuse the judges.

I agree with the stance that there's no way to give TJ the 5th round, IMO. Thought the fight was close regardless but that's a bizarre card. Not at all surprising that it was Sal D'Amato's.
