I think JT on the habs and our 3rd breaking out and young guys improving makes the Habs good enough to at least get out of our division. The way the playoffs work we just have to beat TOR/BOS/TB (FLA/BUF) to get to the ECF. I think with JT and Price/Weber back in form we can match up with those teams.

Is it enough to beat Pens/Wash ? Thats the big question. And then would it be enough to beat a western team? In the end it depends on if the team can have playoff heros.

If no JT then look at this year and next year as a chance to add two more top 5 picks to the team and we can have 4 top 5 picks from the last 8 drafts. At that point the team needs to turn it around because we will have had enough tanking.

more like about 3 or 4 posters are left in MB's corner and half of them likely are just the type that like to argue with people for something to do. I don't know short of the Habs somehow winning the cup next year if most posters on this board would ever want him to stay as GM. The only person that needs to understand that he's got a terrible GM is cheap ass Molson.

I've been on this board a long time. This is definitely the most upset people have ever been. But to be fair, I don't remember a time when the majority of the fans were not calling someone incompetent. I think the main difference is that in the past those people were soon fired, but Molson has chosen to stick with Bergevin and so people are getting even more frustrated.

I really wonder if we wouldn't regret signing JT to an 11M+ contract at max term.... but I guess you have to do it.

Tavares isn't coming to MTL. He's going to Detroit or New York. Look, we're not getting anything done with this line-up and Tavares can't even get the Islanders into the playoffs. Tampa, Leafs, Bruins are all getting better and maybe, maybe we can beat of the bruins. Tampa and Leafs are pretty well a lock for the playoffs.

Why would Weber stay in Montreal? Man Mountain is probably ridding a horse in BC right about now.

I can't think of a less desirable landing spot for Tavares than Montreal.

He'll get max salary from everyone who makes a serious move on him, and many of those will be contenders with a professional, successful management group.

Molson has ensured this by allowing the Habs to fall into abject decrepitude in every possible manner.

At the top of the list is the Disaster Artist GM and himself, as President, who offered not a whit of oversight while watching the public dismantling of his team over the 6 years of Bergevin's tenure.

give JT $10 million per max term!!! He's the only chance we got at landing a legit top centre and all he will cost us is cap space... of course that's if he hits the market first!

I've been here since almost the start of HF and this is by far the worst I've ever seen the fans reactions towards the team. They really hated MT, DD, but that's nothing to what we are seeing now and rightly so as this year was a disaster, the development was poorly handled and took 6 years to finally see that there was an issue, our asset management hasn't gone very well for a long time but when your 2 biggest trades see high skilled puck movers like Subban and Sergachev it just stings badly.

The problem is why would Tavares join the habs in a particular situation?
For money? No he will have anything he wants anywhere
For fame? Nah hes already a nhl superstar
For the city itself? Montreal is cold and awful compared to california and other cities , also full of taxes
To play with who? An incoming traded Pacioretty , so he will play with maybe Future Zadina , Galchy or Drouin? Weak.

Why would he join a team that has multiple problems (who are not on the ice) GM , is lost fans that are annoying.

The only reason i could say see him join habs is Because his (gf/wife) would love to move there.

I dont see any reason for him to go to Montreal.

    No.
And especially not after Ovechkin winning the cup in front of every russian in the world.
Why anyone would think Kovalchuk would come HERE is puzzling, we are dead last.
There is less of a chance of this happening than all those Stamkos threads 2 years ago, i still cant get over that, how anyone thought that would happen lol

If we get Tavares, sure. Therefore our chances are pretty much nil.
