I think he was left out the EL side because it was thought he'd be leaving on loan. Then St. Etienne blew the paperwork and he didn't want to go on loan to a Championship side (which, fine) and here we are. Plus we have Holding, Chambers, Mari, and Luiz injured, so now we only have two fully fit natural CBs
