Iceland with the most disappointing result of the day losing in Albania and falling off the pace that France and Turkey have set at the top of the group.

England - Kosovo 5:3
Montenegro - Czech Rep 0:3

Can't really see England dropping points in this group, although they still go to Czech, Bulgaria and Kosovo so maybe they slip up there but they handled Kosovo with ease today who are the form team in this group. Czechs with a very important win against Montenegro. Czechs/Kosovo will fight for 2nd, they both play England (Czechs at home) and Kosovo go to Prague. On paper Kosovo have the tougher fixtures remaining but the Czechs will need to get a result in Sofia too

Group B
Lithuania - Portugal 1:5
Luxembourg - Serbia 1:3

Two expected results although at point Lithuania was tied. CR7 scored 4 goals. Ukraine in good shape for second, Portugal with the edge in second place with a game in hand and one point above Serbia. Portugal with the exception of a trip to Ukraine only play the group minnows

Group H
Albania - Iceland 4:2
France - Andorra 3:0
Moldova - Turkey 0:4

Turkey had an easier time away in Moldova than home to Andorra and are on top due to H2H with France on 15 points. Iceland fought back twice in Albania but wound up losing so they are now three points back. Still tough group to call, France could wrap it up in October playing Iceland away and Turkey at home. Iceland still have to go to Turkey in November

So basically after roughly 2/3rds of qualifying

Pretty Much Qualified: Belgium, Russia, Italy
Good Shape: England, Ukraine, Germany, Spain
I only put Spain in good shape because they still go to both Sweden and Norway and I won't assume any results

Scotland, Belarus and Georgia are pretty much out of the running for top 2 in their groups but have the Nations League fallback

If qualifying ended today this would be the playoffs (I'm assuming I got this correct )
League A: Netherlands vs. Hungary; Switzerland vs. Iceland
League B: Bosnia vs. Israel; Austria vs. Wales
League C: Scotland vs. Bulgaria (what a joke, have either team won a game in the group?); Norway vs. Serbia
League D: Georgia vs. Belarus; Macedonia vs. Kosovo

Rice wasn't bad, one bad pass which lead to Kosovo's 2nd. He was good against Bulgaria.

*This has all the League D playoff teams at under 50%, it has Georgia as the favorites to win the playoff but Kosovo has the higher chance of qualifying because they have a second path in their group. If Rep of Ireland and Wales don't finish in the top two of their groups, one will not make it as they are in the same league for the playoffs so the next favorite to make it is Hungary or Romania as these calculations have Iceland very low in both automatic qualifying and the playoff

Interesting tidbit - England requested that UEFA shift the game against Czech Republic in Prague this Friday to a different date because they are afraid the Friday night date and cheap Czech beer will make their fans lose their legendary English civility. UEFA has refused, the game is going ahead as planned, around six thousand English fans are expected.
