Matias Mäntykivi can be added to the missing players due to Mestis semifinals. Not saying he's certain to be in the team but possibility.

Why?

It should be a decision between Kaliyev and Lindmark.
You are aware that players from the U17 squads always push out U18 squad players that have played the whole year right? Looks to me that if they arent taking Kaliyev, they would take Beniers. He's played with the U18 squad full time since the end of February and has 18 pts in 11 games in USHL competition, even scored a hat trick in one of those games. I don't see why they wouldn't consider bringing him when hes been producing better than Lindmark. Also there's enough room for him to be one of the 13 forwards so really it's between Kaliyev and Beniers at this point.

Why is it between Kaliyev and Beniers when they can take 13 forwards and the U18s - counting Beniers - are seemingly at 12 consistent forwards right now?

Weight has been long demoted to the U17 team, it looks like Rolston may have the same fate, and only Beniers has been up regularly from the U17s. Smilanic got his first call up when Rolston was demoted, but then played the next night with the U17s. Unless Weight or Rolston are going to get back in play with the U18s or another U17 player is going to claim a spot with just a few games left (unlikely and even if they did, why would they jump into a more secure spot than Beniers?), there should be one forward spot open for the U18 tournament.

You'd think that spot would be down to Kaliyev, N. Robertson, or Farinacci (other options like Brink, Mastrosimone, etc. will be still be in the playoffs with their respective teams). Kaliyev is the clear choice of the available guys, though I'd have Robertson on the team as well. By no means is it a guarantee that USAH adds Kaliyev, but I don't see how it's because it's a Kaliyev or Beniers decision at this point.

If Kakko doesn’t make the World Championship team and is sent down to play in this tournament along with eventually adding Lundell after his season ends, while Turcotte doesn’t recover in time for this tournament, I think Finland will be the favorite.

USA and Finland are favorites but don't count out Sweden.
Sweden has also very good team this year and if they won't make at least semifinals it'll be big disappointment for them.

PS Very unlikely Kakko will play U18 WJC's this year.
Also Lundell is questionmark HIFK is close to go SM liiga finals in SM liiga playoffs.
And if they beat Kärpät ( series before tonight's game 2-2) and go liiga finals Lundell will miss U18 WJC's.

I don't see HIFK releasing Anton to U18 WJC's because he's one key players in HIFK's roster this season.
So his situation is different than Kupari's situation was last year.

Great defensive effort. Taponen was excellent too. The strenght of this team is our defense. There is no doubt about it.

HIFK lost 5th SM liiga semifinal vs Kärpät in overtime 2-1 tonight Kärpät leads series now 3-2.
Game 6 is next Monday night in Helsinki and HIFK has to win that game.

If HIFK wins Monday game 7 will played in Oulu next Wednesday.
But if Kärpät wins next Monday and HIFK lose Anton Lundell comes available Finland's U18 WJC team.
