The offense looks really nice. Bjorktrand and Ehlers should have a field day at this level. Hopefully they'll deliver. If they show up together with George Sørensen, then we have a very good chance of promotion.

I'm, sure the rest of the teams will have their say about that :)

Latvia looks pretty good also.

We have a chance with this roster, but Latvia have one outstanding forward crop, so Georg Sørensen has to show his best!

Here are the most well-known Latvian forward names.....
Teodors Bļugers, Minnesota State Univ. (NCAA)
Rihards Bukarts - Brandon Wheat Kings, (WHL)
Haralds Egle, Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)
Zemgus Girgensons - Buffalo Sabres, (NHL) - might be very doubtful as he plays in NHL
Georgs Golovkovs, Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL)
Ņikita Jevpalovs, Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL)
Edgars Kulda, Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL)
Roberts Lipsbergs, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)

So it looks to be a quite titanic battle!

OK Girgensons is expected, but why not Bukarts? Injured?
I actually think it will be very 50-50.

I don't know how strong Belarus will be. But they will have Artur Gavrus as KHL player (Din. Minsk) and their defense and goaltending are usually very tight!

I does sounds absurd. It sure is the best way to say: We dont want anymore players from Europes second tier countries. Nobody is going there in the future then. I wonder if the same would happen if Canada somehow miracolus dropped to division 1 in JWC. I doubt it.

Denmark U20 beat Frölunda U20 today 3-2 after SO.

Denmark controlled the game afaik. No stats yet, and I don't think Ehlers played.

Oliver looked heavy, probably jetlagged.

Do you have lineups for the game?

Only the Danish, not Frölunda's.

Denmark was without Ehlers as he was too Jetlagged, and Bjorkstrand/Eller only played 2periods each.

Bjorkstrand scored 1 of the Danish goals in regulation.
Christoffer Lindhøj (Rungsted) the second.

Some mainstream attention:

Boy does the team sound like they want to be in Toronto/Montreal next year.
Ehlers sounds like a real winner.

I wonder if the writer lurks these forums or gets his information from here or Hockeymagasinet.

Does the team have another test match before the tournament starts on Sunday? I haven't been able find anything about it.

Caught the game half way through. Did anybody catch the lines?

Thought I saw Ehlers with Aagaard, and was it Lauridssen with Eller and Bjorkstrand? Zorko and Emil Rasmussen played together to I think.

For D-pairings I caught Lyø/Mads Larsen and Korsgaard with Hertzberg. Didn't catch Uldalls partner.

I wasn't able to follow the match, but here is the result:

Denmark - Austria: 3-1 [Shots 37-25, George Sørensen on goal for Denmark]
Danish goals: Oliver Bjørkstrand, Mikkel Nielsen & Matthias Asperup
Austria's goal: Marco Richter

Belarus - Slovenia: 7-3 [Shots 48-22, 2 goals by Voronov & Gavrus]

Didn't catch the game. But Eller really needs to take less penalties if we are gonna promote. He can't get 18 PIM against Belarus or Latvia if we are gonna win those games. Also seems like we need to capitalize more on our chances. But again, I didn't watch the game, but the shots totals seem to indicate that we were dominating Austria for large parts of the game, without getting goals out of it.

Which pretty much summs it up. We were very dominant in the first two periods, then slowed down in third letting the Austrians in the game again and then seal it ind the end. It didnt have to be that exciting, but the Austrian goalie had a very good game. I counted at least 3 100 % chances that was saved and a bunch of shots that passed just wide of the goal. Eller had a bit to much energy in the beginning, but settled down a bit after 1st period. Guess daddy gave him a lecture in the pause.

Overall pretty good start with goals from three different lines.

I agree with your comments. It was a pretty good hockey game, with Denmark in a dominating role. We could (should) have closed the game earlier, but good Austrian organizing and solid goaltending, made it difficult. The 2 Danish top lines were really strong especially in the first 2 periods. At times it seemed like Denmark was in Power play despite playing 5-5.
Bjorkstrand was very noticeable, and was in my opinion the best player on ice.

I agree, Bjork was outstanding!

Ehlers was also very good, but he just needs to not take that ekstra deke.

Austria lost 4-1 to Belarus today, Austria only got off like 6 sog. :amazed:

That sounds like Belarus have a monster defense as usual.......

We lead 3-0 over Poland, but out defense doesn't not look solid. make many mistakes that could be severely punished against Latvia and Belarus.

EDIT: After a 4-0 lead after to periods we let Poland into the match in the third. It ended 4-2 but compared to Belarus and Latvia it doesn't look very impressive...but maybe they can step up for the big matches to come.

4-1 over Latvia and we are going up no matter the final result against Slovenia.

So who has been best players for the Danish team?
I would nominate Georg Sørensen....
