I'm wondering what it would take to get Barrie to the Leafs using JVR.

JVR
Brendan Lepisic / Connor Carrick
2017 2nd Round pick (TBD Leafs owe one of the 3 to Anaheim)

Just offersheet him. You might overpay a bit but it will cost less than Marner and if they match oh well

JVR is a good player, but he's a luxury. If Barrie is moved, I expect it will be for a high end young centre.

A Leafs 1st rounder could be quite fun. If they got Stamkos, sure, without him? Their offense is JVR, Bozak, Kadri, and a bunch of rookies  I don't think Leafs management is dumb enough to try Seguin 2.0.

Center piece would be Nylander + don't think leafs would do it neither would avs. Avs have better nylander in Makinnon and leafs Do not want to give there one of there big four ie (Matthews,Marner,Nylander,Reilly).

Typical.. Package a bunch of spare parts when trying to get a front line player... If leafs want him and don't want to move a young player the pick has to be a 1st

The only way the Leafs deal the 1st next year before knowing where they sit in the draft is if it's protected. And for that reason, there's no way the Avs would do it(take a protected 1st).

He was referring to the other poster telling the Leafs to offersheet Barrie.

a leafs team with matthews, jvr, kadri, nylander, marner, bozak, komarov, rielly, barrier, gardiner, zaitsev, andersen is still a bottom 2 team

nah probably middle of the pack. no chance the leafs do it, but the first would be like 12th overall

There was also mention of Seguin, which wasn't an offersheet(although Burke did everything possible to threaten it but didn't so he wouldn't look like a hypocrite)

In b4 Bozak + 2nd, omg that's always so clever.

PK 2.0? The reason Subban can't make team Canada is because Babcock doesn't like his game, he doesn't want a guy that rushes the puck every time he touches. Ditto for Barrie, he has no place in a structured game, not sure why the Avs would deal him when he suites Roy blindly throwing player on the ice and coach purely on personality.

Barrie doesn't fit what Toronto is building. Great talent, just not a piece to the Leafs puzzle.

A 27 year old complimentary (but not awful) wing and meh prospects for a 24 year old 50 point top 2 quality defenseman isn't enticing.

Barrie is just as much a 50pt dman as JVR is a 30/30 goal winger with size. barrie also turns 25 this month so there is that....
leafs could do better than a 5'9 offense only dman imho
