Did you hear this from someone in the Leafs office or is this your own conclusion?

    It’s common sense imo.

Before anybody gets all too excited about our shiny new toys let’s see what both Ceci and Barrie are like when games start to get tighter. How good was our PP last year in October then fell off a cliff.

Both look great right now and I think our team is better for most of the moves Dubas made. Getting rid of the Zaitsev deal was a fantastic piece of GM work. If Ceci and Barrie can keep this up we should have a long play off run. It’s not out of the realm to sign both. It’s likely that one of Johnsson or Kapanen would need to be moved or if Nylander is the piece that brings the most back that may be an option. Obviously it depends on the play of all parties.

Point is happy to have Barrie and while I am sure he will make some boneheaded plays he is a true top 4 RHD and we have needed that forever.

No one out side of select leaf fans agrees with you. So either you and a those few posters are just that much more intelligent then the rest of the leagues fans, or, you are being a homer. I know which one I'd go with.

These numbers are from the time of signing. Compare nylander to pasta, aho, arvidsson. Compare marner to point, aho, rants. Compare auston to McDavid and eichel. All three were paid extra to wear the leaf sweater. That includes insane front loading and signing bonus' which not a lot of players get. Also, playing for Toronto will result in a lot more sponsorship money then most teams so that should off set the tax difference somewhat.

Nylander has to be at least a 70 point player while marner and auston had better be over 100. Anything less is overpayment.

4 mil may be a bit on the high end but I'd maintain that dubas overpaid the three by at least 3.5 mil.

Really like what Barrie brings to the team. Having a weapon on the right side is a huge upgrade. The Leafs were already must watch TV. This is even better!

I don't think you know what common sense means

The Leafs will definitely pay him more than $5MM

I do agree whatever Barrie gets Rielly will ultimately get more if all things stay the same

EK is not worth 4 million more than Barrie. 8-8.89 would be reasonable

We can't afford him. No chance.

We should try to get Muzzin and Ceci extended to team friendly deals instead.

You can say "wrong" all you want. Doesnt change the fact that outside of some leafs fans, the majority all believe that dubas overpaid the 3 amigos.

But I'm tired of talking about this in a barrie thread. Cheers

His assist on mikey's goal in our first game was unreal! Hopefully he can bring more of that

This guy is awesome. The team will have to learn to cover for his incessant pinching but he's like an old school rover out there.

    So fun to watch!

Your perspective is premature is all I am saying...They could quite easily pan out to be worth every penny ! Also, for the record I don't like seeing them get paid before they have accomplished anything, but I guess someone up top believes in them !

I like him he brings an offensive prowess like Gardiner but he has a little more substance between his ears and doesnt have that clueless shocked look on his face.

If I had a choice, I would rather have Parayko or Manson. Their contracts means you can re-sign Muzzin and Ceci by just trading Kapanen. Barrie is also amazing but his next contract could be a show stopper.

It is what it is. I guess Dubas will need to decide if he wants Barrie or Muzzin+Ceci.

Barrie has looked great so far. I'd want to see Ceci not look like absolute trash in his own end first before hearing any more about an extension. Maybe Ceci will be worth something in a trade if he keeps compiling points while being force-fed minutes with much better talent.

Parayko has about negative zero odds of being traded.

Very small sample size thus far, but through 4 games (all-strengths) Muzz — Barrie look good versus Rielly & Ceci.
