JVR KADRI KOMAROV
HYMAN BOZAK NYLANDER
MARTIN MATTHEWS MARNER
HOLLAND LAICH SOSHNIKOV

Don't count on Lupul making a return.Nylander supplies the best elements of the Bozak-Kessel combination on the 2nd line with Hyman doing the heavy lifting down low.Martin rides shotgun with Matthews and Marner and keeps them safe. Neither start in the top 6. Rychel needs to beat out Holland to earn a spot and Im not sure thats a given.

NOPE wasting talent and no way Matthews is 3C to even begin the year or later on his career. While Hyman which i think won't make the cut is playing on your 2nd line. Matthews is a #1 pick and unless your team is very strong he starts as a consensus 1C. Management knows where they want to slot Kadri heck even us fans know as everyone in Toronto has seen him develop. He gives Toronto more value at 2C.

Sorry to OP for side tracking from the topic. Bozak can be had but it will have to be something other than Bailey like a 1st 2017 (possibly 20s) and 3rd round like prospect. Bozak never was good enough to be 1C but he was in Toronto for many years he is a perfect example of 3C on any team in this league.

Just re-posting this, that was posted a few posts before yours.

Wow, your posts keep on getting worse and worse. Unless you have a hearing/reading problem (in which I apologize) Babcock has stated Matthews would be starting as the third line center. The previous poster is correct, other than they will spread the tradable expiring contracts on the top lines to boost trade value.

Not once in his post he stated Bozak is better than Matthews, not once

and a lot of coaches and management say a lot of things for me when Babcock said that he was talking about Matthews as 3C to start the year without even watching him makes me think that he was saying what he would say about any pick Babcock had great players down the middle before and he does not have that luxury here yet all players are young. This is #1 pick and potentially best USA may have to offer in the next few years. You treat these type of players differently from the ones drafted after the 1st or 2nd pick. So you tell your friend disabled or not it shows how his thinking is and yours, Good Day.

What you call "wasting talent" is actually known as sheltering. Matthews isn't getting thrown to the wolves by pitting him against the toughest competition in the game, playing top minutes. He'll be graduated into his ultimate role as he adapts to the pace, speed and physicality. Same with Marner, whom you've anointed as R1 without him playing a single shift. Not happening. No chance.
I have Hyman as L2 because he has pre-existing chemistry with Nylander, and because he has the physical tools to play the role required to create space for skill guys by winning board battles, hunting pucks down low and crowding the crease; which is always a matter of will more than skill. You pay a hefty price to play in the dirty areas and that role is crucial to the success of a line comprised of smaller skill guys. Ironically, you have Sosh in the same spot, who has no more obvious qualification than Hyman.

Kadri will continue as the placeholder 1C until Matthews is ready. You're thinking like a fan, not a coach.

Tyler Bozak is also 6 years older than shaw

& 3 years older than Eller.

Shaw scores at a 35 point pace across his whole career while bozak scores at a 50+ point pace. Bozak is also a top 10 faceoff taker in the league which is extremly important to contenders. Eller is obviously much lower than these too point productions.
