1st Round
17. St. Louis: Drew Stafford (C)

2nd Round
47. St. Louis: Devan Dubnyk (G)

I can live with those picks.

I think that the Blues might look long at hard at Picard at #17 if he were still there, however. And Lukas Kaspar is a LW from everything I've read.

In the second round, I still kinda like Cory Schneider, or even Shantz, as a goalie over Dubnyk. Not to say that Dubnyk's a stiff or anything like that; those are just two guys I think I like better. You could even throw in a third goalie, Kootenay's Jeff Glass, on whom I expound in this thread on the Blues' board:

Didn't know you were on the Oilers scouting staff. I guess you learn something new each day...

lol i know i never understand how people can say that stuff. I mean i'm 99.9% certain the rangers will draft a forward but i have no idea what they're looking at so i can only think unless of course they come out and say "we're taking schremp, even if ovechkin was available"

No way Picard falls to #19. If Picard is available at #14, the Oilers will draft him.
Not if Tukonen's still available, I would hope.

Wojtec Wolski at #16? I can't imagine him getting that far, but I assume that Mad Mike's salivating at the thought.

I would also not be surprised to see the rangers deal up and grab Tukonen if he's still available at #14. Maybe they can finally get rid of Poti.

only a team like florida or Atlanta would be willing to trade for him, but i know the rangers would eat contract to dump him

This mock is based on team needs. So ...

I see 6 D's + 2 G's selected in the top 14. That leaves only 8 Forwards, so somre "big" names should be around at pick 15 & beyond.

I also suspect that there are less "top" Defense candidates than forwards in this draft (at least in the early rounds). So a team needing a defenseman might select one no matter who is left in the forward position.

EDM fan's take:

14. Edmonton: Marek Schwarz (G) - If Tukkonen, Wolski, Stafford, and Picard are still on the board, i would really be stuck on the fence with this one, take the possible #1 goalie in the draft or a sniper prospect which we are sorely lacking. I would go with Sniper. Tukkonen, then Picard IMO would be the choices.

23. Edmonton (From PHI): David Bolland (C) - There is the some questions about his stamina, same as Parise in the last draft, one of the main reasons EDM passed on him. I see EDM taking Lepisto/Shultz here if there are still on the board over Bolland.

44. Edmonton: Petteri Nokelainen (C) - This is where they would grab Dubnyk IMO. Voloshenko and Shantz would also be other possibilities. To be honest though, i am not that familiar with Nokelainen.

Just my two bits...

Couple Things:
Lauri Tukonen - at #15 seems a little low i'd expect him to go more around 6th-10th

Wojtek Wolski - at #16 is also a lttle low i'd expect him to go earlier in the draft top 10

Stafford & Picard - likely to go a bit sooner

I like the idea that Mcgrath is going to Pittsburgh, but i think he could be picked up by a team late in the 1st Round

Last thing i think that Vaclav Meidl will go alot sooner, around like 35th, i think hes got alot of talent.

Isles and Nashville finished with the exact same record, same number of pts,but Nashville beat the isles in their only head to head game.

Shouldn't the Isles pick 15th?

Lot's of people don't believe those two will be 1st rounders let alone the best picks left at 23. But Edmonton usually surprises...

True, but the 2nd 1st round pick we acquired from Philly, being a division champ, there is no way they can be lower than 25th in the draft postion in actuality, and most likely winning there series against the Leafs will lower that pick to the end of the 1st round. There is no way we will be picking at 23rd, so these players might be the best option if KP and KL want an offensive defensemen at that juncture.
