he Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport sent out an advisory note about the substance, often found unmarked in over-the-counter supplements that players sometimes mix into Gatorade to create energy drinks.

this isnt the meth that rots your teeth

Methylhexaneamine is a stimulant. Definitely not the same as street meth.

Sounds like they were careless (or not) in what supplements they used.

RE: the bolded - not to say that OHL players can't be caught up in hard drugs, but I think you're thinking of a different "meth."

 I have no idea how I read methamphetamine stupid anyways if its Methylhexaneamine its not really a big deal its a common indregiant found in weight loss supplements and nasal decongestant sprays, really easy to get. The suspension seems kind of long to me however.

I wouldn't say they were careless numerous athletes have unknowingly tested positive.

Most of the people on this board would be surprised at how many junior hockey players take steroids. On any given (the vast majority, I should say) Junior A or CHL team in the country you will find at least one or two guys who are juiced.

Pretty sure if any of them were on steroids they would find it in the body when they are conducting the tests.

There are types of steroids that can be taken to dodge the tests. The tests are not able to trace every type of steroid available. They don't drug test every junior hockey player, either.

So wait, they were juiced up? I opened this thread expecting it to be recreational drugs. 80% of Junior A and Junior C hockey would be suspended.

    Steroids Are Everywhere!!!

Athletes of all sports are juiced up. The worst culprits have to be baseball and Football, though hockey is getting right up there. I'd say 75%-85% of players at any level(junior-NHL) are doing some sort of Performance Enhancing Drugs...

You're out of your mind if you think steroids are that prevalent in hockey... not even remotely close to 75-80%.

Don't make these claims without backing it up with proof. Depending on the compound of the steroids they stay in the system for months to years at a time. If such a percentage were acurate I guarentee there would be more cases of steroid usage culprits.

I don't understand why Methylhexaneamine is banned.

Yeah, sounds like it's main use is as a nasal decongestant, with an energy boost side effect similar to caffeine, not much of a performance enhancer really. Seems like these kids were legitimately taking it by mistake.

So you think every single player is tested? Do you realize how much money that would cost? Some people are willing to take the risk.

    exactly

so if I take a pre-workout supplement that's considered a "performance enhancing drug" or "doping"?

if all this stuff does is elevate your heart-rate and get you pumped up then this is a ******* joke

Yeah it's a stimulant similar to caffeine just stronger. It's in many pre-workout supplements so I could see how they could take it by accident.

Let's not forget that there is no effective way to test for HGH use. It's ridiculously common for athletes to use it these days.
