The Missouri River Otters will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon at 3 PM to announce the signings of two NHL players.

Barry Melrose, who owns the Adirondack Frostbite, was quoted in the Post-Star (or whatever the Glens Falls newspaper is called) that they are looking to sign a few NHL'ers by next weekends road trip. There was a rumor on their message board that it might be Roenick, and there have also been rumors all season about Barnaby (who was in attendance at the UHL all-star game in Adirondack), so it looks like even more guys who won't settle for millions will play for $500 a week, if that.

lol... if you go to the uhl's homepage, you'll notice that at the top its part of the nhl.com network

too bad it isn't actually affiliated with the NHL.. that would be hilarious... a subsidiary NHL league with a salary cap and ex-NHL players are going to play in that league while protesting an NHL proposed salary cap

Bingo I think Jcab. The UHL pays SOOO poorly, and these players waited SOOO long to start playing (as opposed to right away as if it was for fun), that this is "training camp" for them.

But I could be completely and utterly wrong.

that's terrible. The Erie Otters "you otter be there" is a WAY better catch line.
